With the possible discovery of water on the moon, we are faced with a burning question, Space, what to do with it. If there is water on the moon, we have air, fuel and a place to build ships that don't need to cope with much gravity. We could push space exploration light years ahead in a matter of years.
Lets face it, we have explored most of this planet, the new frontier is space. However, moving into space brings up a lot of questions we, as a species, need to ask ourselves. Is going up into space going to be our greatest achievement or is it going to be our biggest mistake? Should we let our exploratory spirit take us further than our parents could have ever dreamed, or should we sit still for a while and think?
Anything you got, methods, science, opinions, please share them.

We gotta go there, if only in self defense. There ARE asteroids out there that could do a lot of damage, maybe even wipe us out. We have to learn how to deal with them. All the nice stuff about discovery and exploration comes second to survival.

First we need to repeal the part of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty that prevents us from testing anything nuclear in space. The Orion Drive has a theoretical max velocity of (c/10). Thats 10% of the speed of light. It is the only thing that is within our technological capabilities right now.

We will have to leave for space soon. It's only a matter of time before the Blue spring from the Earth to consume us.

Hopefully we can return....with Armored Shrikes.

Yes, OH YES, I would so want to be part of a civilian lunar colony.
We're far too slow to reach other solar systems, but why not colonize the moon and Mars already?

I'll say this, (probably again since I'm sure I've referenced this before) Let's make the moon a prison colony...run by a computer...named Mike. There's a book or a manual on it somewhere

No, we have not. We have yet to venture into the depths of the oceans themselves, and we know very little about the animals living there. Hell, there are giant (10 ft diameter) red jellyfish that scare the hell out of me that reside there. I'd definitely take spaceflight over those jellyfish. Jellyfish are creepy.

Yes, but. Our technology is limited. In "The Core" they said it best.
Space is easy, its empty.". Oceans, one of the other frontiers, are tricky, there is a lot of pressure down there. What i should have said, was that we have explored about as much of this planet as our current technology will allow.

We have the technology. They're building a new submarine with the mission to explore challenger deep.

It is probably easier to explore space though.

Enjoy your cosmic radiation.

I do believe that it is desirable, possibly even necessary, that humanity eventually moves beyond the confines of our homeworld. However, we're currently not at the level where we can do so in any meaningful way. Research and development of space-based technology deserves a lot of money and attention (a lot more than it's getting right now, if you'd ask me), but right now it's simply not sufficient to do much in the way of actually moving people to other planets in order to establish any kind of (semi-)permanent colonies.
