Poll: "Let's Play" Would you guys be interested?

The concept of Let's Playing is an easy one to explain. It's a walkthrough, with commentary of ether the audio or text variety, of a video game. The primary prepose is to have fun or to see a game you would never be able to play yourself. The community is able to take part and some of the best LP's have had an active participation from the readers/watchers.

The content is ether a strait play though, or is edited so that theirs a ongoing story outside of just the game.

So, my question is this Escapist. Would you be interested? Would you take part, or would you just ignore it and read something else?

(what I mean by "hosted" is that the community would post their own LP's. Not that the Escapist would make them)

I don't know, but this [http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Half-Life/] is perhaps the funniest LP I've seen, and it's Half Life 2 (sort of). It all depends on who's doing it.

I'm a fan of VLPs, but very few can actually keep my attention. I don't much care for written version, as it limits secondary activities.

At any rate, I'd rather just stick to the Something Awful forums.

if they did video Let's Play I might tune in if it was a game I cared about or had good humor in the commentary(like Freeman's Mind), but if it's just a straight walkthrough with some person going "And then after you get the master sword, you take a left and walk through this door and continue down the hall" I'm not gonna watch it unless I NEED the walkthrough or whatever

I would direct you toward the Something Awful forum where they host good Let's plays, however its doing this thing where you can't see the threads unless you're a member.

While I admit that Let's Playing on Youtube is filled with low quality video camera LPs and unfunny people getting angry at at being let down by their L337 gamer skills. What I am proposing is Let's Plays with enforced quality levels.

Aside from Spoony's SWAT 4 and Freeman's Mind I don't watch much Let's Play. But if an interesting game had some interesting narration, I might be interested.

There's a hilarious Morrowind one on www.chocolatehammer.org that I follow, it's all text and screenies which is a nice break from video. I love Shamus' LOTR online one that he does as well. I reckon it would be a decent idea, but finding a genuinely funny and talented writer that can stay fresh for 40+ articles is not easy.
