Is anyone else mildly p***ed off about the fact that due to Sega taking down the servers it is now impossible to actually get over half the achievements in Chromehounds.

I can understand that the upkeep of the servers was costing them money but it's a bit of a slap in the face to all the people who bought the game new and just never got around to getting the online achievements, which in the majority required a heavy amount of time.

online achievements just cause grief for one reason or another. sometimes it's because they're impossible (in one game that i forgot its name you had to reach each leaderboards top place indivually and one for reach the top of them all) or they're easily glitched.

Killzone 2? Perhaps Gears? Those made me shudder. You had to practically be the best player in the world for a week for the Killzone ones.

Then if you buy the game a few years down the line, you just can't get the achievements. It's promoting a market wherein you can keep buying games then throwing them away and buying new ones.

i think it was a tom clancy game (i think it was GRAW but i'm not sure) but yes, there were achievements for reach the top of each leader board (one for death match etc.) and one for being literaly the best in the world and being at the top of all leaderboards.

That's just mad. Though, I guess it makes sense. From back when people thought of achievements as badges of honour, rather than filling a set quota that everyone should be able to do.

There are quite a few games with impossible achievements for one reason or another. Some are for shut down servers (EA is the biggest offender as far as I know), some are just permanently glitched and the developers refuse to patch it, and some are just impossible because it relies on beating online records or something like that- there will be a minimum possible time for a time trial, and after it has been reached a related achievement will be impossible.
