Years ago, it was far from rare for stories with a romantic plot to involve the whole 'love at first sight' phenomenon. for the past few years, however, I have been hearing of it less and. In fact the only times I can think of hearing recently was in old fairy tales like slepping beauty or snow white. This got me wondering if less people were believing in love at first sight. I then asked myself if I believed in it. I am a romantic, wholoves the stories where people find love in strange or dangerous situations, where couples get together even when the odds are stacked against them. However, I do not believe in love at first sight. I have never even heard of anyone expeiencing it in real life and love, to me, has always sounded far too complicated to happen so suddenly between people. In fact, love has first sight has always bored me in fiction since I prefer the whole 'growing to love each other thing'. So, what do think about love at first sight? Does it exist or doesn't it? Does it make for great romance, or is has it been used too much and lost all of its meaning.

It can seem after while in a relationship that there was love at first sight, but it's just your current feelings being projected onto memories.

It could exist, on the internet.
If people meet and chat on online dating, but never see each other then they could sort of experience love at first sight when they meet up.

I'm sure it's just attraction at that first sight, but could be possible to love someone like that if they resemble someone you know or used to know and cared about. It wouldn't be loving who they are, but I'm sure some kind of love would be felt toward them in that situation.

So, I guess yes, it's technically possible, but not in the sense everyone believes.

Ya know, normally i'd say this stuff is BS, but in this case.. I really did experience love at first sight... Not lust..But love..

And i know she felt it too. Until you've experienced it (which i think it's something very very few people ever actually will) i can fully understand people refusing to believe it exists.

The scene: Grade 9. I stayed late one night to meet my buddy in the school computer lab to work on a project. I walked into the lab, and my buddy was there with a girl. He introduced us.. One look into her eyes and i knew... i KNEW we were destined to be together. And you could tell from the way she was looking at me that she felt exactly the same way.

My thoughts were not on sex.. My thoughts were not "Holy crap, that chick is HOT"..

My thoughts were "this is someone i want to be around for the rest of my life."

There's a whole other story behind all this that i won't get into, but i've always regretted that i didn't trust my gut instincts.

I don't believe in love at first sight.
For the same reason I don't believe in fate.

I'd say no, love at first sight isn't possible. Sure, there could be a lot of attraction, however I strongly believe that real genuine love only comes through getting to know what someone is actually like personality-wise as well as what they look like.

Having met up with a load of you lot this weekend, I'd say that this probably wouldn't happen. People can be very different in real life, for both better and worse. That's just my thoughts though...

I do and I dont lol, when I was in school I met the cutest beautifullest girl to have walked the earth, better then Jessica Alba, better then any other beauty queen, had the voice of an angel and the personality like one, I could say that was love at first sight, but well I dont think it was the same on the other end, she was a friend to me, and I guess she liked me alot, but more as a brother, guess there is love at first sight, but its only there to remind you that life is a *****.

I believe it could happen. I think you could feel more than just an attraction to somebody just by looking at them. Hasn't really happened to me as far as I can remember like.

Love, no. Lust, most definately, but to love someone, you have to know who they are, what they're like. Otherwise, I doubt it's love.

Possibly, but not at you.

It's entirely possible, although unless I experience it I won't be able to say for sure.
