I, like many escapists, spend a good deal of my free time designing game ideas and storylines. (And yes, I realize that I'll never actually become a game designer because that's what EVERYONE wants to be these days.) And one of my pet projects is a reimagined Aladdin.
If you know the original tale or mentally read between the lines of the disney version, I think there's a bit of potential for a mature retelling of the story, it's got:
- Plenty of oportunities for sword-combat against hyper-competant guards (the protagonist being a thief in a society where that could get you killed and stuffed)
- Potential for a decent love-interest subplot.
- Tons of free-running/evasion tactics akin to assassin's creed
- Booby-trap evasion and platforming opportunities akin to prince of persia.
It all makes for a good reimagining to me, but what do you all think?
Is the disney variant what we should stick to or should we try and cater to everyone who watched it as a child but grew up?
Your thoughts? Comments? Feedback?
