Poll: Mafia 2 VS GTA IV

now i have recently bought mafia 2 and i thought it was a great game with a good story(even though the ending was a little unfulfilling). Its also a bit short and i finished it in 5 or 6 hours. where as i have GTA IV and it wasnt particularly fun. STOP FANBOYS AND HEAR ME OUT. The story was meh, the characters unrelatable and it was all a bit slow with about 7 hours of the game just there to teach you the basics. while im not saying this is a bad game it just didnt hit the sweet spot.

Nice, poll! Very nice one! Except for those redundent "other" options. But, indeed, very good I was just thinking the same thing, that the two games look very alike.

Mafia 2 blows GTA4 out of the water for me. That's a purely subjective opinion of course. Obviously a lot of people liked GTA4. But for me it was a big snore that underwhealmed at every turn from the limited weapon options to the main characters who were all brooding and boring and inconsistent. (again, my opinion) Mafia 2 by contrast was a great story that didn't overstay it's welcome. If anything I was hungry for more of Vito's story. The short length of the game is the only criticism I have for Mafia 2. But I'd rather have 10 hours of pure awesome than 120 hours of ho-humm.

I liked GTA IV for its gameplay and game-engine, and I liked Mafia 2 for its story and very detailed and 1940s feel of the city, which made it more interesting that generic New York.

However, overall GTA IV is one of the best games this generation. Its gameplay is, to me, so far only beat by Red Dead Redemption. This is because I'm a sucker for realism in games. Saint's Row 2 and Just Cause 2 are too wacky for my taste.
The story isn't as good as people should have it (IGN actually said it was Oscar-material), but it has lots of great characters and witty dialouge.

I only enjoy GTA games when I can use cheats and go on a rampage with a tank or in GTA IV's case, a helicopter (that my friends and I enjoyed crashing into buildings). So I chose Mafia 2 because it's a total blast to play.

Since I couldn't continue playing GTA IV after I realized how irritating the driving mechanics were, Mafia 2 wins.

OT: I like Mafia II better. The music is so much more fun and though the cars aren't always as shiny they're still vintage and that makes up for everything.
