I don't necessarily bash anyone else's grammar, unless it's really unreadable.
For myself and my own writing, I always write in an unformal manner with abbreviations, IE "Don't, won't, I'm" etc, though I'm always careful about punctuation and structure, so my posts are nice and easy to read. Also, I tend to use three full stops in a row, like so... I don't know why, really. I guess that's where my msn habit kicks in.
Smileys I seldom use here, but in instant messaging I might use them a lot at certain times.
