Poll: Mario, a Superhero?

So I was up till midnight arguing about this with my girlfriend about this yesterday, and wondered what you thoughts were. Can Mario be considered a superhero, in the traditional sense of the word?

Well, he has various suits which give him various powers, can fly, shoot fireballs...yeah, why not?

Yep. He can fly, shoot fireballs, and always saves the girl in the end. I'd say that's almost a dictionary definition of a superhero.

Yes, he saves a princess who gives him nothing in return, he has magical boots that kills anything he jumps on and if he collects magical items he can do variou other things.

If eating mushrooms could double my height, eating flowers let met throw fire and getting hit by stars turns me invincible; damn, i'd be the greatest super hero of all. Not to mention getting teleported around just by playing a damn flute!

Have you ever eaten a plant and ever managed to shoot fire because of it? I didn't think so.

If superman didn't come from space and all that jazz, but was instead a boring accountant called Gary who just happened to be strong and saved people from time to time he'd still be a hero. If your proffesion involves single handedly saving a large amount of people and helping society as a whole then you're a hero.

If you wear spandex, gadgets or have powers aswell then you're probably a superhero.
