I'm pretty darn bad at writing reviews but here goes anyway, basically I'm a bit tired of dark fantasy and general books having a bad name because of a Ms. Meyer so I'm trying to enlighten the unenlightened (though escapist probably not place I mean everyone here hates dark fantasy, please don't kill me!!! T.T)

Absolutely fantastical. I'd seen this book many times among with a few other from the house of night series and I couldn't work out the order of them (seems silly but I really couldn't) Still nice excitable fan girl (I imagine I act like her now) excitedly she told me to order (speaking much to fast for me to understand) "I'd just buy all of them" she squealed. After she left I'd completely forgotten the order to begin with but there on the cover was a big bright red sticker "3 for 2" I saw five of the books and thought...screw it I grabbed all five without so much as looking at the blurb and paid for the quickly.

That spilt decision made me find possibly one of my favourite authors ever and for that I thank the strange girl in the shop.

This was my second dark fantasy book (the first being twilight) and was considerably better written for one thing the character wasn't a faceless blob like Bella swan but a well written and well designed character who I felt I could connect with instantly, though the story a little strange there was a plot and many solid characters, my favourite part...THERE WAS A GAY CHARACTER I cannot stress how much I enjoy diversity in a book and having a gay character in the book made me smile especially because he wasn't a stereotypical gay.

Still away from the story of how I came to own the book on the the "review" (I've never been good at these things I always seem to go off topic...)

The basic plot Zoey (our protagonist) is typical teenager until she is made into a Vampyre (yes I spell that correctly for a reason I don't understand the authors write it that way) so she must go to Hogwarts school of- I mean err The house of night so she can learn to be a vampire (if she doesn't go to school she will literally die!!! There's your message kids go to school or blood will flow from your lungs and choke you).

Zoey is a "special" fledgling as she has been blessed by her goddess Nyx making her tattoo on her head...different and giving her super powers.

Now I don't understand why these "vampyers" aren't just called witch's. They don't need blood to survive, they don't explode in sunlight (though they aren't keen on it). Garlic does nothing and they have super elemental powers.

Still this book, though it's a cross over between Harry potter and (I don't even want to say it as it sully's this book but) Twilight it is DIFFERENT and very enjoyable it hit my favourites list and will stay there for a very long time 5 stars.

Hmm...that wasn't exactly a review was it...more of a ramble still nice to have a variety of reviews I guess??
