Let me think for a moment... yes. It's a pretty good deal, i'd certainly think about it (even if i'm not qualified for space trips). I don't have many friends or belongings on Earth, and the possibility of being one of the first to colonize another planet is worth leaving my old life behind. Sure, it's dangerous, but what isn't? Last but not least, the possibility of saying "screw everything, i'm going to Mars!" is far too awesome to pass up.

You should read the Red Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson sometime. It's the most plausible Mars colonization fiction I've seen so far. Under this model, most people who would visit the escapist wouldn't be eligible to go for the first century of terraforming.

Have they terraformed it? *No that's part of your Job ;p
Is there a communications network set up between Earth and Mars? *Yes. But I wouldent expect anything like high speed. The packet loss from earth to mars would be Murder
Are there sustained shipments of supplies (food, water, entertainment things, technologies) to the planet? *Basic yes. Its not Complete abandonment. also more people would be coming slowly.
Does my family go with me? *Yes if you bring them
Can my friends also go? *Again if you can bring them.
