So all of my Mass Effect 2 save data was lost to a PS3 glitch. At the time I was pissed, and refused to replay to get my characters back. Well I started a new character with ME3 and am having trouble connecting with the predetermined choices that the game is giving me. I keep getting the feeling that something isn't quite right. Should I just suck it up, or should I replay ME2 and try to recreate my characters as they were?

if you want to be able to save any of the ME2 characters in ME3, you need to replay ME3, if you dont know/care the characters of ME2, then you can just play ME3.

What benefits does any of it have?

None, the end consequences for your actions are never shown in the aftermath of the big battle, so you can just make up anything yourself.

In fact, go play more skyrim.

I'm gonna need to go finish off my last renegade character now that I've got the Genesis save editor (didn't play ME1) otherwise Wrex'd appear dead and so on... I hate the predetermined choices ._.

Also, if you can get to level 30 on ME2, you are SO far ahead for reaching the level cap. Also saves you playing ME3 twice for the Long Service achievement.
