I'm getting the collector's edition, something I've only done with one other game before, halo 2.

I think I got it mostly for the metal case. I still look at my Halo 2 Limited Collector edition's with much love. Not because the game was particularly great, but because the case was, and after these years, still is quite fantastic.

[small]Yay for 1000th post![/small]

It's been speculated on the Mass Effect 2 forums now that the Cerburus Network card is availible to everyone, not just the CE. We're waiting for a confirmation.
Insofar as it can be confirmed one of the Devs posted on the ME2 forums that it's included in all versions.

BioWare collector's editions are pretty good. I bought the Collector's Edition Dragon Age, and the gear they gave you is quite decent. It also gave me the Blood Dragon armor in both it and in Mass Effect 2, though I think that perk came with the regular edition as well.

Still, free DLC and a couple of good items. I'm happy with my CE, and I will be doing the same for ME 2.

Considering the regular edition is almost half the price of the collectors edition on Amazon, I went for that. The Cerberus card almost swung me the other way, but if all copies of the game get it, then I win both ways really. Not too fussed about that fancy pants armour myself.

I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition a while ago and got £10 all thanks to my Game Rewards card and I think it will definitely be worth it. If I was you I would get the Collectors Edition.

I'd say get the CE. That is what I did. I got it because I really liked the first one and figure why not get the extras? I don't care about the in game content, I got it for the out of game stuff like the DVD and the Art book. Fro me that is worth it. Kinda the same reason I got DA:O in the CE too. That and the purty metal case. :p

It's better than the Dragon Age collectors edition, that's for sure.

Wow, some documentary crap, and a cloth map. Bullshit that's what it was.

I could not get the collector's version 'cause they don't have it were I live, but I am still getting the pre-order content so I am happy.

I wanted to get the special edition. But the gamestop in my area decided to only offer pre-orders for the thing for 2 days and they didn't bother to tell anyone.

I go in yesterday to pre-order it and their all sold out of the collectors edition.

I was sad.

Now I have to get the one with the box art that makes me cringe whenever I look at it.

I'd go with collector's just to get that awesome armor.

Although I already have MAG on preorder. Considering cancellation though, in favor of preordering Mass Effect 2, anyone else second this?

1) The regular edition's box art is FAR worse than "somewhat crap," it may be the worst box art I've seen in years. A five year old girl has better taste in art, and could probably draw something better.

2) The armors offers from Gamestop are more likely than not a pile of poo. I saw the stats for one of the armor sets (either Terminus or Inferno, I can't recall) and it was like +5 to one stat, +5 to another, etc. They'll be like the gold lancers from Gears 2 - shiny, pretty, and proof that you got the game earlier than everyone else, but no more useful.

3) The price difference is minor enough to not regret dropping the extra coin. It's not like a set of night-vision goggles or mini helmet that makes the game $80 more. It's a small extra cost, so better to be safe than sorry (and wish you had extra stuff later on).

In conclusion, get the collector's edition.
Counterpoints (numbers match your numbers)

1.) Come on! I don't like the box art earlier, it sucks, but you are exaggerating big time.
2.) Good Point
3.) Still, it is money...and how often is game purchase time DLC stuff the best endgame stuff there is?

Rentals at Blockbuster are like $10 now, and this game is NOT a rental, Asscreed 2 is a rental (short) this game (super long if you do all the stuff) just isn't suited for renting.
