I still think that quote has been overblown.
It was said during an EA conference for investors. The way I see it, BioWare/EA delays one of their AAA future releases so The Money at EA and their investors want to know what's up. EA assures their investors by speaking their language, saying that the delay is to maximize the game's reception and what not to bring additional returns on their (continued) investment in their company. i.e. "we're making the game better, might have overestimated our workload" If this were some kind of conference of gamers- the message would be translated for them as to what they're doing or actual gaming changes. Investors aren't entirely concerned with all that in the end though, most likely just their returns. Securing or assuring the Investors/The Money is always a good thing, though.
I really don't think EA would really fuck with what BioWare has going on. Not when they're working on a follow up to such a highly-regarded game from both fans and critics- not to mention a ridiculously profitable one. The Dragon Age comparison is different, I think, far less exposure, as a whole than the Mass Effect series. EA isn't dumb enough to fuck with a good thing.
