MINOR SPOILERS FOR MASS EFFECT 1 AND 2 FOLLOW

Don't worry, this will be my only Mass Effect 3 thread, as there's already been a few and I'm sure there will be many more in the near future, but I did have a thought that I wanted to run by my fellow escapists.

So, we know that the majority of ME1 party members are returning to the party in the 3rd one, barring any who are dead.

So, assuming we'll have 6 or 7 party members. My question is this, what happens if Garrus and/or Tali died during the suicide mission in ME2?

I'm assuming they'd be replaced, I don't think we'd have such a small party in the event one or both of them are dead. And following on that logic, here's the question I have.

Who do you think or who do you want to take Garrus and Tali's spots if they died?

I'm gonna guess Kal'Reegar and Aria T'loak take their places, both of whom were fan favorites in the second game. I can actually see players going back and killing one or both of them off in order to travel the galaxy with the other two.

So, that's about it. What do you guys think?

I've wondered if one of the situations involves Cerberus simply doing a few more Lazarus projects (what brought Sheppard back to life in ME2) to simply bring back the most critical members of ME2 should you let them die.

Huh, I found out something interesting:

At the end of the comic series, Invasion, Aria is no longer the ruler of Omega.
That seems like a very handy method of freeing her up. Though her involvement in Shepard's squad is still speculation on my end.

Since Garrus and Tali are the only squadmates that might already be dead, I'm guessing they'll just send you on your merry way.

Yeah, that was more likely:

A convenient device for explaining why Cerberus is evil now, rather than shoehorning Aria into Shepard's party.

FWIW I'm guessing that they just won't have replacements if Tali or Garrus are dead and if that makes people short one squadmate, then it was their fault for getting them killed.

EDIT: also, Aria is a biotic, so for balance reasons it probably won't make sense to have her replace either Tali or Garrus, who are both tech users.

Vacant, probably. I can't imagine Aria ever being a party member, she has far too much of an ego to be subservient to someone else.

Noooooooooo!

Garrus and Tali never die (not in any of my playthroughs)

But I'll go funny option:
Shepard is that distraught by their lose he uses glove puppets replicas of his former team mates and continues the witty banter via these!

It'll be vacant I reckon. They've already established that they'll have fewer companions, and excluding Tali and Garrus (and from what I can read, another Mass Effect 2 character) you'll have 5 characters to tag along - Kaidan/Ashley, Liara, James Vega and 2 others that could be classified as spoilers.

It has to be vacant, otherwise it's as if your choices in ME2 have no real consequences and that would be bullshit.

....Until 2 months after release. Then EA will bring out some new DLC party members who take their place.

Im completely serious, I reckon thats how it will turn out. Heard it here first folks.
Damn it stop giving EA ideas.
on topic: They will stay vacant, EA might be jack asses but Bioware have some decent people. Plus Bioware is all about consequences.
