I don't think that Bioware has posted the results yet but last weekend we were challenged to promote 150,000 characters, not an easy task. I think that we might have pulled it off, but I ask you members of the escapist, did we suceed? Or did we fail? Why do you think that...yes I'm very bored, thank you for asking.

EDIT: Huh, turns out we pulled it off, in fact we got 350,000 promotions.

I did it...but I played classes I hate (Soldier, Sentinel) so much to do it that I don't feel like playing the multiplayer anymore. I'll see what I get in the packages. If it's a Wraith, I'll play for a bit more just so I can have some fun with it (it's the weapon I've been wanting since the beginning, but still haven't found in god knows how many Spectre packs. At least enough packs to nearly max out the Geth Plasma Shotgun and Revenant, among others). Otherwise, I think I'm going on a hiatus. I have a scary large backlog.

Why does everybody hate Sentinels? If you use a respec token on a human sentinel to remove that one point in armor you can max out warp and throw become just as good at biotic explosions as an Adept. Also, the Krogan is just silly fun on Silver.

I have like 9 shotguns. Including the Wraith and the N7 shotgun we got for the last event. I think I have them all and even if I don't, if I get another one I may hurt somebody at Bioware.

OT: I'm pretty sure we did. Most people were sitting on multiple 20s anyway. I myself promoted a couple I don't really play and a couple where I wanted to respec the entire class.

I'm not sure if we were successful or not, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we were. The last N7 challenge we went way above the expectations. I know I personally promoted five characters (Soldier, Adept, Engineer, and two Infiltrators).

You and me both. I primarily play an Infiltrator, so fingers crossed for that Valiant. I'm going to get the shotgun though, guaranteed. I always end up with shotguns - the only weapon class in the Mass Effect universe I thoroughly hate.

Ugh. If I could, I'd just give you my Wraith VI. I've never even used it, and had no desire to change that. Meanwhile, no Black Widow.

If the personal goal was 2 promotions, we'd only need to have 75,000 players do their part. I don't think that's anywhere close to out of reach and I would actually be surprised if the community didn't reach that goal. Either way, I promoted two classes and didn't really do anything beyond what I would have done given that both classes (Eng and Inf) are classed I play anyway and I actually had both well on the way to promotion anyway.

I almost always play infiltrator and I currently have 7 sniper rifles. I got the valiant last operation (Goliath?) where we had to kill brutes.

I was really hoping for the N7 sniper rifle but once I got it I never used it, because I had already unlocked the Black Widow which is easily the best sniper rifle in the game.

was this weekend the same deal as the last operation? Where you get a box with N7 weapons inside?

If I had the Black Widow already I probably wouldn't care which N7 weapon I get. I used the N7 Valiant extensively in the single-player game, though. On Insanity difficulty there's no damage bleed-over into the health pool when an enemy has shields or a barrier, so the Mantis and M-98 Widow were worthless to me against a number of mobs. Meanwhile the N7 Valiant could put all three of its rounds downrange before the Tactical Cloak damage buff disappeared, and the rifle had practically no recoil so you could reliably put all three of those rounds in the head of your target. So for someone who doesn't have the Black Widow just yet, the N7 Valiant is pretty ridiculously good, and probably outclasses the other rifles in most circumstances.

And yep, this weekend's challenge does give us a box with an N7 weapon - assuming you completed the individual goal of promoting two characters. EDIT: And assuming you're not playing it on the PS3 :(

I used to hate sentinel, but then I got enough talent points to max out tech armor (and spec into the reduced cooldown penalty), then geared up so I could still spam throw even with tech armor up, with warp available for when I need to make things go boom. High survivability plus spammable crowd control equals highly effective front-line fighter.

I literally went from "I hate this class" to "I love this class" in the space of one match. Engineer's still my favorite class though.

And yes, I did my part this weekend, promoting all six classes once. Gave me a good opportunity to get better with classes that I haven't played very much.

I would gladly trade all my sniper rifles (including the Javelin and Widow) for that Wraith. Or a nice hat. Maybe a fancy beard...

OR A RING!

It was posted not long ago. We promoted 350,000 characters, I believe. I honestly thought 150,000 was a little bit low for a goal. Let's see how long we can keep up achieving almost 3x the goal amount during these Operations.

you sir, are wrong. the javelin is the best sniper. AP rounds without an ammo equipment? HELL YES.

I'd imagine we done it. Think about it, we only needed 75,000 people to promote two characters to reach the goal and there's been plenty of people saying that they've promoted more than that.

I swear to god, if I don't get a new sniper rifle as a reward I'm gonna be pissed.

The Black Widow has that as well as a 3 round clip so it's much faster than the Javelin too. Heavy as fuck though.

Couldn't say.

The only shotgun I've used extensively is the Disciple, pretty light and accurate as hell for a shotgun.

Both the Widow and Black Widow have innate AP ability, though i think the Javelin has about 0.25m more. As for which is best, I love the BW on singleplayer, don't have it on MP so use the Valiant.

I don't care much for the Geth Plasma Shotgun in this game. You head to lead your targets, and I just don't really like having to do that in this game (weird, since I'm a flare gun pro in TF2). The Claymore is extremely powerful. I've killed three Cannibals in one blast (the spread makes that possible).

However, I prefer the Disciple. It's very lightweight, and a hit causes knockback even to shielded enemies.

the disciple is good, but i like to be able to put down my targets in one shot, thats why i dont use it. i would have to acclimatize to it. although, a claymore puts a geth primes sheilds down instantly, so i think ill stick with it.
