So I bought Mass Effect last year and loved it. Great game, but it was on a PC that I am now unable to use regularly. I think I'm going to buy ME2 for the 360 because of this We've all heard about ME2's character and story continuation; the question I ask you is: do you think it's worth it to buy ME again for the 360 to take advantage of the story continuations? Or would it be a waste of money?

Go for it. It's a great game worth playing over, anyways, and that old save will definitely help in ME2.

EDIT: It's also pretty cheap nowadays, so it won't break your wallet.

If you have already played it once why not just wait until PC. But if it is destined not to show up on PC them I'd say yes do it. It's a magnificant game and well worth the extra time. For an RPG it's really replayable because it feels more like an Epic Sci Fi film or Sci Fi Tv series and the level of interaction almost makes me feel like I'm directing it.

If you want to spend the $20 for it, then sure. Personally, I wouldn't. I'd find it a waste of money, but seeing as how I just bought Mass Effect, and have yet to play it, I have no opinion on the game's replayability.

This is hard to answer because we don't have any idea of how much a ME save will actually affect ME2 until it comes out.

You'd definitely be wasting your money. The devs have said that while the story continues from a completed savegame, it still works and makes sense if you start from scratch.
Can't you download savegames for 360 games? Perhaps you can find one that is similar to your Shepard.

Buying Mass Effect definitely isn't a waste of money, no matter what. I have it on both PC and 360, and it was worth the investment for both. It's one of the best games that was released in the last two, three years, if not longer than that.

Back to the question at hand, though, I would definitely say that it would be worth it for the story continuations. Even if it isn't a bunch of world-shattering stuff, it will be all that much more compelling because of it. Extra side-quests, little things that make you go "Hey! Awesome!", and all of it culminating in yet another amazing game, as I'm sure it will be.

I'm pretty sure Mass Effect 2 will be out on PC with the continuation stuff.
But the thing is he says he can't use his PC very regularly. That's why he's torn between getting it for 360 or playing it from scratch.

Also, didn't you have like... 2000 posts a month ago? Or perhaps my brain is failing.

I'd say to get it, even if only to have the Shepard in ME2 be your Shepard through your decisions.

Also, is playing ME1 again really a bad thing?

Then when he can play it'll be so much more fun.

And I hit 3000 on June 19th so probably...

To get an accurate opinion we would need to know exactly how much it affects the next game.

However, if you get it and finish it just before its release, the storys still in your mind as you go into the next one, plus you would be used to the Xbox control version. Makes sense to me. :)

I'd recommend buying ME2 first and playing it for a while. If the discontinuity bothers you that much, buy ME1. Remember that ME2 may ask you questions at the start which effectively recreate your ME1 character and the choices he/she made. If it really is a pain though, you can still then choose to get the original ME1, though I'd recommend waiting a while to buy it because ME1 will likely become more expensive for a while to exploit people who are buying it again for the continuity (of course, I could be wrong, maybe ME1 will be even cheaper. Check the prices.)

If you have another PC you can use regularly, would it be worth moving your save film to the one you can actually play the game on? I've never come across a PC game that didn't let you use save files from other computers, in the rare occasions I've had to do so.

I've gotten Mass Effect twice, i'd say go for it as I enjoy it on the 360 much more for some reason.
