Which is most badass?

As we all know, the Mastersword is the legendary sword Link uses to defeat Ganon, and is a weapon of great power.
The Masamune, however, is a reoccurring sword in the Final Fantasy series, and other Square products. It's almost always an incredibly powerful weapon (and we don't know how that pansy Sephiroth got ahold of it), but it differs from incarnation to incarnation.

My favorite would probably come from Chrono Trigger
For the sake of debate, you may vote for Masamune if you think that ANY of it's incarnations is more awesome than the Mastersword.

Guessing with all the Zelda fanboys we have, this will be rather one-sided, but still, I'm interested.

Edit: What is this? Masamune beating Mastersword by a landslide? Surely, this can not hold, not with all the FF-fanboy-haters out there.

the various Masamune's are named after the greatest swordsmith to ever live [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masamune], as such they will always be one of the best swords in any particular game.

The Master Sword, for me. The classic Masamune to me is the insanely long sword that Sephiroth wields, and that just looks like it would be far too awkward to handle.

That, and I am one of the aforementioned Zelda fanboys, so that doesn't help the Masamune's case.

Considering I own a replica of the Master Sword, I can't choose anything but.

True but the master sword has been infused with the power of the gods. God Sword>Greastest Human sword

Out of those two, I'd say the Masamune.

They both pale in comparison to the Excalibur, though...

I dunno...

You'd have to put up with that...

OT:

I prefer the Chrono Cross Masamune.

Anyone with Masamune could beat Link's puny little ass from here to Micronesia. Hell, any character from the FF games could do that with pretty much any weapon. Yes, even Hope. Well, at least, the Hope I've developed in FF XIII (yep, he's pretty much my Ravager party backbone with a sideline in Medic).

So, I vote Masamune.

Master Sword because it has the power to seal away godlike powers. Masamune is powerful, sure, but that's it, just a chunk of power. Nothing interesting or unique about it.

Frog/Glenn split open a mountainside with a blade that is essentially alive and forged with the heat of a sun.

Sorry, Link, but this was way cooler.

I say the Masamune, I've played a crap load of games with this sword and it's usually one of my favorite weapons to use. One reason why I still like Final Fantasy VII as much as I do was because that time around your big opponent had the sword instead of you. Even if he is overrated, I still like Sephiroth. On the other hand the sword's appearance in Final Fantasy XIII is in the possesion of some dude you fight a couple of times, but he never EVER fights you directly, leaving me to ask "what was the point of giving him the sword if he isn't even going to use it?"

So basically you're making me chose between Link or Auron from FFX...

That's not fair! *sulks*

Nah, in all seriousness, rating on the charecters who have weilded those swords and what epic stuff has been done with then (and by that I mean, how many heads have rolled because of it) ummm... there's been 13 final fantasy games, but there's 15 zelda games, but three of those didn't have the master sword, so, ummm...

FF wins by virtue of bigger numbers? Oh dear...
