I can kinda predict what the unanimous answer will be. Personally, I made an effort to jam my middle finger up Cerberus' ass. I wouldn't trust the Illusive Man if he was voiced by Morgan Freeman and had my mother's face.

I believe that they believe in what they are doing, but I don't agree with them. I at least can trust them in that I know how they act in certain situations, and I trust that they will always act that way.

So while I couldn't put faith in them, or align my character to them, they are at least now a known quantity, which is better than in the first game, where they could have been anyone.

Fuck no.

The worst part was that shoddy writing was the main reason for it.

In Mass Effect 1 whenever you encountered Cerberus they were unambiguously fucking bad guys.

Then once we get to Mass Effect 2 a "Oh maybe they're not so bad" gets asspulled out of nowhere and none of the crimes that Cerberus were directly responsible for in the first game are ever dealt with or even given fucking lip service.

This would have been a relatively easy thing to write around, but as it stands:

FUCK CERBERUS.

Everyone who played the first game knows that Cerberus is bad news. Sure they might be pro-humanity, but they're more than willing to step over a huge pile of (human) corpses to see to their own interests. Not to mention all those creepy experiments: Breeding dangerous creatures as bioweapons, injecting soldier with Thresher Maw acid, the whole mess that created Jack, etc.

They're too extreme even for my Renegade Shep.

Kinda short sighted mate
Personally I believe in them they are working for the benefit of humanity sure their methods are questionable but show me one intelligence agency on the planet that wouldn't do something like that to ensure humanity's survival?

It's "kind of" explained by the fact that many Cerberus cells work with little or no contact to the main organization. It could easily be said (like in Jack's case) that the cells doing the more unambiguously evil things weren't doing so under direct orders from the Illusive Man.

I fully agree with the FUCK CERBERUS bit, but that is a convenient excuse they could use to explain away all the horrible things they did.

Sure I did! They brought me back to life as a kick-ass cyborg!
Doesn't mean to say I didn't get me some alien booty though. And I wouldn't sell Legion for anything.

Cerberus is a shady organization or at least their past is. They seemed okay and on the level for the most part in ME2 which maybe tells me that the terrorist organization is concerned about their public image. The only thing I didn't like was that the Illusive man kept information to himself throughout the game, never speaking of how he would accomplish gaining more power. I didn't care for that either, if one race gets too much power then all balance is lost.

Sure did, with them reviving me and all that, I at least trusted them to not backstab me, besides I like their point of view somewhat...

Except this is complete bullshit.

Cerberus is quite clearly working only for the benefit of Cerberus, and will screw over humanity if Cerberus profits from it. For example, the research facility on Pragia. Now torturing little kids to learn stuff is bad enough, but you also have to remember how most of the kids got their; batarian slavers. Cerberus is supporting the attacks of Batarians on human colonies to get more test subjects. They are quite clearly working against humanity to further their own interests.

So no, I don't trust Cerberus at all. They are quite clearly an evil corporation run by a charismatic bastard.

Trust? As in, let Cerberus babysit any nephews of mine? No. No i do not trust Cerberus. On the other hand, they will fight the Reapers, one way or another, and that's all that matters to me. I let them take The Collector Technology, because i believe they will use it to fight the Reapers. However they may use this to enslave the other races......Well, let's burn the Reapers first shall we?

EDIT: Clarification, if you will.
Cerberus is Extreme, no denying that. But still, it's a lot better than The Alliance, which did NOTHING. If Cerberus had not acted, The Baby Reaper would have grown to become Badass Reaper and Kill Everyone. While yes, there Methods are Necessary, i don't see that as a Bad thing. Ruthlessness will be necessary in ME3 i swear. I can already imagine sacrificing Planets to the Reapers.

That being said, i would not so if The Reapers were not there. Cerberus is Xenophobic, Ruthless, Well Funded[sub]More or less[/sub], and care only for Human Progression. If they were not so Concentrated towards the Reapers, i would see Cerberus Burn.

They're a fictional corporation in a video game.

Of course I don't trust them.

Where's the no option? Anyway, only a moron would trust that guy, not to mention he's an immoral, heartless xenophobe (Akuze anyone?). So I betrayed him and ran off with a ship that must have cost at least 100,000,000,000 credits, myself which cost more than 4,000,000,000 credits, and an entire cell of Cerberus operatives. Yeah, I think he's pretty pissed. I'm willing to bet Cerberus will be an enemy faction in ME3, at least for me.

You forgot about Akuze where they deliberately provoked a thresher maw to attack a defenseless, and might I mention human, colony just to gain some research.

Isn't the bigger question did we trust EDI?

I was like, meh, Cerberus is OK. They HAVE to be, otherwise Bioware would have put the player in an awkward position. Still a possibility, but not likely considering the broad scope the game aims for.

[HEADING=3]You ask me if i believe a bunch of utterly immoral and selfish terrorists out to take over the galaxy whose worst crimes make them look like bloody Space Nazis? Take a wild guess.[/HEADING]

And don't give me all that usual "ends justify means" and "but they paid for resurrection and Normandy SR2" bullcrap. When means consist of things like torturing little kids and an end is pan-galactic domination, this is most certainly not the case of "ends justify means". It's the case of severe Space Nazism. Against "BUT OMG U R BACK FROM TEH DEAD" i don't really have any arguments, i only wonder how many good people suffered so Cerberus could have cash for that project. As for Normandy SR2 and new cool toys (which failed to win me over)... i know one guy who also saves galaxies, but dosen't rely on Space Nazi funding to do so. His name's Ratchet, in case you're wondering.

And oh, Godwin's Law.

I also wonder why in ME1 they were supposedly a bunch of Alliance black-ops gone rogue, but in the sequel they are suddenly an extremely huge and shady terrorist organization. Bioware's writers probably just thought "hey, no-one paid any attention to these sidequests, so why not?"
