Hello all, I know you are all tired of this ending kerfuffle, but I would like to bring something to both sides attention. After release, hordes of ME3 fans began the outcry against the "ending" to Mass Effect 3. At some point, someone began weaving together a possible "fake out" explanation. The theory has been dubbed "the Indoctrination Theory" a large group has formed, and has made a commendably cohesive reason for the "ending" of ME3.

According to the theory, Shepard over the course of his/her adventures and contact with both the collectors and reapers, has been afflicted with reaper induced "Indoctrination." Simply explained, Indoctrination causes hallucinations, radical change of character, (possibly explaining the ridiculousness of the renegade path)

Meaning; the ending of mass effect 3 is just a dream, and Shepard is battling madness, still very much on earth.

Watch the video for a summarized set of principles for the theory, but what does the escapist community think? Would you accept this? Do you really care?

I have to admit, there is a lot of compelling evidence to support this theory, and I'm inclined to believe that Bioware is more likely to have something up their sleeve rather than just mindlessly screw up what is (arguably) one of the most important part of their entire trilogy. For anyone who wants to learn the rest of the story behind the indoctrination theory, I'd recommend taking a look at this link.

But even if the indoctrination theory is right, that's still going to leave things in a pretty bad situation. After all, the Reapers are still going to be there and are still going to be invading Earth.

Given the choice of thinking that Bioware is full of Idiots or Evil Genuineness, I'm inclined to look at their tract record and lean towards the latter. But all we can really do is wait and see what their DLC will bring and hope that it's good enough to justify the price they'll put on it.
