I'm going to say it flat out: I find metal fucking boring.

Hip-hop, on the other hand, has a lot of musical flexibility and lots of room for experimentation in vocal delivery and soundscaping. When I first heard albums like Entroducing....., Metaphorical Music, Alopecia, Stankonia, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, The Marshall Mathers LP, and Deltron 3030, I was fucking floored, ESPECIALLY with the first two. After hearing Endtroducing..... for the first time, I listened to it at least once a day for a week, which is A LOT considering I like to listen to albums in rotation, and Metaphorical Music is in my top three albums. Hip-hop isn't all about bitches and whores or cashmoney. Hell, lyrics aren't even mandatory. You can just have beats that develop and stand their ground. I got some stellar instrumental hip-hop from a guy [http://soundcloud.com/kings-county-lighthouse/tracks] in Brooklyn last week.

Speaking of which, I should fire out a word of thanks to him. It's incredible.

I'm eclectic and have grown up with both. I'm really into Nicki Minaj and Drake and I've gone to see Coheed and Cambria and Flyleaf (who is metal). Mostly depends on mood.
Cocky=rap
Confident=metal
Laid back=rap
Cranked up=metal

But,really, most of the music on my Ipod is rock.

METAL! \m/_

I like me some Rap and Hip Hop or whatever from time to time, Immortal Technique, Flobots, Jurassic 5 ("hip hop for people who don't like hip hop").

But metal is the music that really drives me. Can't really pick out a favourite band anymore, but the first group I really got into was In Flames all those years ago.

Out of the 2?
Rap/hiphop
Used to be a true blue metal head but i just got sick of the depressive lyrics
-I thought they were- and just the pure noise of it
Im not one for mainstream hiphop/rap and i have found happiness in the underground of that genre
So i lean more towards good rhymes
Edit:As stated above,the main genre im into is Trance,Electro,House and its sub-genre's,and dubstep

I like metal alot more. That's mainly due to the fact that I like metal and have no opinion on rap. Never really listened to rap so I don't know if I like it or not.

As for my favorite band... I'd have to say Rammstein. Dethklok is also up there.

Metal, Children of Bodom, ---

I don't have a favourite rapper or hip hop artist because I have yet to hear an artist or group in those genres produce music that I will like more often than dislike. However, with that being said, I have heard some damn good rap and hip hop songs out there so you will never hear me dis either of the genres.

I'm more of a chill person so hiphop definately takes my interest over the 2. With that said i lean towards the underground scene more, that radio stuff is just desensitizing at points.

You know the power of media when you have so many who only relate rap to the 'crap'...heh..

My favorite genre is metal, but I can appreciate good rap. Not commercial shit, but the legitimately talented writing that rap can be.

Which of the two genres do you prefer if any?

I guess Metal. However, my taste in music changes all the time. It's like the northern lights. Constantly shifting hues. Right now, I'm into electronic/house/techno. But I just started listening to Weezer again, too. So we'll see.

Who is / are your favourite metal artist(s)?

Ensiferum, Finntroll, Turisas, Eluveitie, Korpisklaani, Kalmah, Wintersun, and possibly some more that slipped my mind. I love folk metal.

Who is / are your favourite rap / hip hop artists?

Stress, PVP, Gimma, Deichkind, The Streets, The Beastie Boys, Fatal Bazooka, Run-D.M.C. and Rage Against the Machine. Props if you've heard of more than three or four of those groups. The first three are Swiss, Deichkind is German, The Streets are British, and Fatal Bazooka are French. I love rap in other languages.

I've never liked rap, I really like metal, Power Metal and Viking metal to be more precise.

I listen to a lot of Alestorm, Hammerfall, Sabaton, Iron Maiden, ManOwaR. But I've recently gotten into bands like Ensiferum and Tyr.

Depends what subset of metal it is. Black metal and similar styles drive me nuts, the music is amazing but as soon as the vocalist (i refuse to say singer in these cases) starts the song gets skipped.

Operatic and symphonic metal are a lot nicer, still have a nice musical background and decent singing, a great music to have on in the background. my favourites are Nightwish and Sonata Arctica.

for more headbanging styles i stick to Five finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Avenged sevenfold and Sonic syndicate as they all have great music and vocals.

As for the rap i used to listen to a lot of it but i got bored of always hearing about bling and hoes. Eminem is really the only rap artist i listen to now but i will only listen to the old stuff. the old stuff sounds way to whiney to be 'proper' eminem
