Deathcore as a genre tends to be flooded by emos or scene kids trying to be "br00tal!" (see Bring Me The Horizon) and Metalheads in general think very low of it as a form of music.

Personally I think that there are very few bands that can pull off Deathcore and not suck terribly. A Breath Before Surfacing had a good song or two, but that's about it.

What do you think of this?

I like whitechapel is that deathcore? I hate categorizing metal though. I call anything with distorted guitar rock, including metal.

I think we need to go back to basics, their seem to be alot of hybrid metal and rock bands atm,
Some of my faviorite bands are simply, Death Metal or Thrash... but thats my own opinion i'm sure many people could appreciate Deathcore.

The vast, vast majority of it really sucks, but I have heard a few things here and there that didn't make my ears bleed. I don't believe a genre of music is really by definition bad, so I'll say that "some is good", but that "some" is in my experience a very, very small fraction of the entire genre. I just don't like -core stuff in general, and most deathcore, for me, is unbearable unless it dispenses with whiny clean vocals/lame pig squealing and has a good smattering of death and/or thrash metal influence.

What mainly annoys me about it is that I love Grindcore. And if you ask someone what they listen to and they say grindcore, ALMOST 100% of them will say their favorite bands are Bring Me The Horizon, WCWBT, Annotations of an Autopsy, and other crappy deathcore bands.

I really wish people would get this straight.

One or two bands are tolerable. Not good, but i can stand them. Job For a Cowboy, for example, even though its bollocks name.

Overall it's a terrible genre (BMTH, JFaC, WTC, what is that crap get it out of my ears) but there's a few great bands like Postmortem Promises. But tr00 m3t4larrrghs really hate it, so I'm going to vote love it!

I agree with you on this for all points to be honest.

Yeah I guess some deathcore is alright, but I'm a thrash and heavy fan mostly, so what deathcore I hear is what my colleagues force into my ears. Like I say, some is good, but I'll stick to bands like Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax if you don't mind.
