I plan to buy one of these on steam, but have no idea which one. They both look like they have a creepy solitary atmosphere and solid gameplay. So which one do you perfer and why?

P.S. Please don't give me that "You can't compare apples and oranges" crap. Thats not helpful

STALKER and it's so much better it's not even a fair contest. Metro is a good game, but STALKER is amazing. It's unlike any other game you will play. It's quite long too and has awesome mods that completely change the experience. You should get STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl first.

Well STALKER: CoP is quite large. I think I put around 50 hours into it.

Metro 2033 is a better story with more elements but takes at most about 8 hours to finish. Although it's also worth playing through a few times.

I wouldn't bother with SoC though, go straight to CoP. Or get Metro. Or both. They're extremely similar in so many ways. There's even STALKERs in Metro as well as anomalies.

They're both great games. If you feel you want to play an FPS with a great story, then get Metro. If you want more freedom to faff about, then STALKER might be your choice.

My personal choice is Metro.

I personally prefer S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metro 2033 is great if you want graphics and story, but I feel that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. does everything else better. I enjoy the combat, mechanics, RPG elements, settings, and level design a lot more than Metro 2033's. Don't get me wrong though, Metro 2033 is still a good game. Also, Shadow of Chernobyl has a lot of amazing mods that you could add to increase playtime, though not necessary (I've probably beaten it around 5 times with mods and 5 times without). I would get that first. If you like it, I would go ahead and get Call of Pripyat, most people prefer that but I don't simply because it felt like a lot of the challenge was gone. If you don't like Shadow of Chernobyl or have some extra cash, get Metro. They're both under 10 dollars anyways so you shouldn't have a problem getting both unless you're young.
