Microsoft. 'cause games.

Though, to be fair, Apple never had a shot with me - I just can't stand that stomach-turningly smug attitude of theirs. Remember those "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC"-ads?

Also, "Genius"? Seriously?

I guess it pretty much is :)

They're both pretty evil companies using underhand tactics to make the consumer pay more for a product that doesn't work as well as it could. But it's got to be Microsoft, simply because Apple has a greater respect for freedom, and there's actually more than one way to do something. The same goes for Android vs. Iphone - the Apple product looks easier to use, but it's much easier to do cool stuff with your Android without rooting.

Linux is top by all in my book though. All it needs is for all my games to be ported to it, then I'll cleanse my hardware of anything Microsoft related.

Microsoft and its users don't preach about being so much better.

The level of smugness in apple marketing is sick

Microsoft. They are much better at innovation and perfecting things. People give Apple credit for all that but most of their ideas were from other companies. iPod was from Creative, OSX was Steve Jobs' company, NeXT, before Apple rehired him, iPad was just a tablet PC reboot (Microsoft did it first).

Granted Microsoft had their beginnings by ripping off some people to get DOS up and running with IBM but they have come so far since then its impossible to deny they produce much better products.

If it's the choice over which is less "evil" I'd say Apple
I have trouble buying that.
I admit that I am bias as I've been screwed over by Microsoft more so than Apple, however I also own more Microsoft products, so chances of having to deal with Microsoft is higher in that case.

Well, the only Microsoft product I use is Windows 7 (and only because I can't play most of my games on Linux), but I deliberately avoid using any Apple products, so I guess Microsoft wins. However, if I could avoid using Microsoft products altogether, I would

Although I must say, I can respect Bill Gates a lot more than Steve Jobs, if only because he is in the process of using most of his incredible wealth for charity.

I buy products I like. I have no brand loyalty. I have a Windows PC and Xbox 360, but I also have an iPhone and manage all my music through iTunes. Next year I will buy either an iPad or a Surface, depending on affordability and functionality of the respective products, not the corporation that makes it and has no awareness of my personal preference whatsoever.

For me:
Windows > OSX because games.
iPod > other MP3 players because I just prefer them.
The Xbox is a negative for microsoft because I'm getting sick of how consoles are holding back gaming at the moment.
They both use horrible factories in other countries to make their products.

I'd say Microsoft, but not by much. Apple just don't seem to have much of an impact compared to microsoft.

Microsoft by miles and miles. The only thing I can think about that Apple does better is MP3s and even that wasn't as big of a difference as people make out.

You are biased, you mean.

I've been screwed over more by Apple, honestly. This is especially bad considering I've onlyever owned iPods and one Apple 2E back in the day. My iPods have had a significantly higher failure rate than even my XBox 360. Thankfully, I now have an Archos with a 500 GB HDD, because the Hard drive size is the only reason I went Apple in the first place.

I think the ipod/ipad/iphone line proves that Apple is at least as bad as Microsoft when it comes to products when they have a similar lock on the market.

I have no loyalty to either. I'll purchase whatever product suits my needs the best at a good price. So far, this has been mostly Microsoft.

Microsoft. Their products are imperfect but flexible, and I feel that I can get around most problems fairly easy with a little initiative. Apple's UI is impenetrable to me for their laptops, not to mention the limited software available. iPhones are not half as intuitive as they're made out to be, and the all-touch deal is overrated. iPods are great, but I feel like iTunes is designed to kill Windows computers, and the iTunes software itself isn't great. Add to that Apple's business practices (from annoying update procedures that end with you accidentally downloading safari to the non-replaceable batteries to the senseless patent suits) and the general air of douchiness that their products cultivate, and the choice is clear
