hmmmm, interesting thought. i bet you my 360 gets so hot it CAN cook toast while using it. I may just have to put a couple slices of bread in there, and see what happens. Good excuse for some early gaming sessions first thing in the morning, part of your complete breakfast!

Well its nice to see MS giving customers something out of paying from Xbox Live, as thus far it seems they've just been using their horde of XBL money as make-shift snow to have billionaire sledding parties. However it would have also been nice if they'd done something remotely useful too. Like dedicated servers, or fixing the console. But Im sure these little cartoon avatar things will just be great, yeah. Fantastic. Playstation Home admittedly is on par with this as a trivial utterly inane idea, however at least thats free all round.

Perhaps it is Microsoft's M.O.? Correct me if I am wrong, but part of their cornerstone of success as a company started as a "borrowing" of ideas.

Meh. It was free. I like the new interface and options that come with it, the avatar is just another free perk that I don't really care about, but don't mind getting either.

They seem alright. It's not as if they're the only addition of the NXE, party chat being by far the best addition.

So really I don't care either way, but Avatars are fun for creating gamer pictures for yourself using the photo system.

I don't care for them but, at the same time, they don't affect me in any significant way. My gamerpicture is still doomguy - so long as I get to keep that the new avatars can stay.

Before the NXE, I was expecting the avatars to be rubbish, but when they came out I actually liked them a lot.

There not realy Mii's but more like personal avatars, while Mii's are poorly animated gimicy bull shit, if your going to do a cheap show trick like crappy avatatrs then at least do them well, hence microsoft, I don't like them but the beat the fuck out of nintendo's Miis.

You realise the Mii's are intentionally poorly animated right? This is Nintendo, nothing is animated to full potential, as anything that is poorly animated / short and stubby is extremly 'cute' in Japan. I soppose it's all personal prefrence.

Strategy. They are trying to compete so blatantly ripping off whatever gimmick they can from other systems makes it easier, when the systems begin to look uniform the one with the most significant game library wins!

when i downloaded it and had to create mine, i laughed, thinking about all the e-thugs with names like Xx_KILLER_A$$A$$IN_xX that must be so ticked off right now w/such a wonderful surprise.......having to make a cute little avatar.

NXE is 2 thumbs up, tho. Games ---> HD is a big plus. Yes, the disc must still be present, but the thing doesn't sound like a f/a18 preparing to take-off an aircraft carrier anymore.
