Excellent game/half game.

I think a bigger developer will come along and make something extremely similar soon though to capitalise on the time it is taking Notch to fix the issues in beta/finish beta.

Goooooooooo capitalism!
It's too late, everyone who's interested already has Minecraft.
Or left because of the time being taken to finish/fix the bugs that can render the game unplayable online for days at a time.

I would be genuinely suprised if a shiny, polished and finished game that is essentially the same as minecraft isnt released at the end of this year by an established company by the latest
WAIT since when do big companies release shiny, polished and finished games?
that Minecraft would be EVEN MORE BUGGY, you would need to pay probably many hundreds of $ because 90% of the blocks and biomes are 10$ DLC EACH..............
well, you get the idea.

Game is awesome.
I still have to build my hole in a mountain house with a giant greenhouse within an even bigger greenhouse. The Beaches are never going to be the same.

Lately I've been hollowing out the spaces under my giant fort BASE jump tower for underground farms.

I've also rigged locking double doors (MUCH harder than you'd think), secret passageways, trap door pitfalls and landmine doormats.

Yeah, I'm hooked onto Minecraft. After all...

The beaches and forests near where I set up base start to hate me. I love glass, despite it's crap damage resistance :D

Is that Yahtzee's skull fortress that he said he built? from the Zp review?
Sort of, I built it from scratch after hearing him say the phrase "Skull Fortress that weeps lava because creepers keep blowing him up"

thanks for not flaming me though
*shrugs* we all have opinions after all ^^

I'll admit though, after building that skull fortress (it's 4 stories inside) I was having lots of fun running around inside it

The game is charming and all, I see how good, but I don't get in to it, it's not a game for me.

Creations are cool, until you realize there's no one to show them to.

What I really like is survival, but after the first night you're set.

Before anyone else says I hate it because I have "no imagination" or "well you suck at it"
Those are meh creations. They're rather small and uncomplicated. Try checking out the Minecraft forums and all the amazing creations that span hundreds of blocks wide and dozens high. From recreations of towers, to full blown court houses. Hell, even one guy recreated a life sized 1:1 replica of the Starship Enterprise D.

It's taking over a month for a single man to create.

Keep trying though, you may get the hang of it and truly appreciate the game. As for the thread, I spend too many hours on it, especially when I have a project to complete in-game that I underestimated the time required for it. I hate that.

I also hate the few hours of sleep I am getting lately.
Seen it, and yeah I spent about 30 minutes

yes I know there's bigger better things out there, but I hate it when people pull that

it's kinda like saying

"Well you may have built a skull fortress that's better then anything I've made, but check out what this OTHER person with obviously no life did! until you can do something that psychotically insane you have no imagination"

not saying you personally can't do better, I don't know what you can do, but I've had douchebag after douchebag pull that card and it's quite tiring

they yell that I hate the game because I suck at it

I do something better then what they could EVER do

then they find something insane and next to impossible and tell me I suck until I could beat that

it's like playing mario

you can't get past 4-2
they beat the game
then you yell "Yeah well, you still suck until you can beat it in less then 5 minutes without getting a single mushroom"

see what I'm getting at?

Obsessive gamers have a tendency to wall themselves up and ignore society anyway...why would Minecraft make that any different?

like in the zero puntuation review its joy is actualy having to work to build something awsome i just got it because a friend whos opinion i respect recomended it and i figured why not it looks fun and im completely hooked i mean i made a 50 block high watch tower so i could jus find my one castle the sucky one that i actually finished
Yeah
(again I'm happy for not getting flamed... when this first came out the flame I recieved was AWFUL)

as for the actually having to work with something, couldn't you get a job as someone who works in the back room of a store?

then you can stack bricks and get paid MONEY FOR IT
(instead of having a parent/roommate yell at you to tell you that you haven't done anything for the past 5 hours and it's worrying them)

*shrugs* long as you're having fun though that's GOOD
that's VERY GOOD

just make sure you're really having fun and not just giving in because it's kinda becoming mainstream from it's popularity (think- everyone who nintendo/halo/blops suckered in, the games are not as good as they're cracked up to be)

...great now this is longer then I meant and I'm thinking about playing Cube 2 in a little

I get bored with a lack of purpose. Was fun exploring and trying to build contraptions. Once I felt I tapped the game of what it had I just stopped playing.

Kinda feels like playing Second Life but with blocks. Except you know, you get paid real money to spend countless hours making something on Second Life.

I'm fracking fed up of hearing about GOD DAMNED MINECRAFT

Sorry.
I'll admit, yes, it's fun, it's enjoyable, but must we get another thread every day about it?

I'm 'Meh' about the game. It stopped being fun, and being a repetitive task of mining and crafting materials to build things that take only 20 min to build, but several hours worth of mining to get ready for.
This is the main problem I have with the game. That and every time I die I lose EVERYTHING, which pisses me off indefinitely. Also, I for some reason my copy crashes more often than most (even for a mac).

I like it and all, especially with the high res 256 texture pack installed. But, really, I get bored of it after a few days. Basically I'll be absorbed and play play play and then be like... well... done that time to move on. But then down the road I either think of something else to do or maybe a new big patch comes out, and I'm back in it!

Never played it and I never will.

Its not that I hate the game or anything its just I'm simply not interested in it. Oh and its fansbase pisses me of greatly. (no offense)

More likely that people who don't like it just don't see the point of the game. And there isn't one.

There is no narrative, no quests, no real pve, no pvp etc. It's just one big sandbox, which is fine and all, but isn't it the developers job to entertain me in the game instead of me having to find some way to not get bored?
i disagree
there pve...
darn gravel

You'd think the entire bloody game is PvE. Unless the meaning of PvE changed whilst I wasn't looking.
