Poll: Minecraft could get achievements. Is this a good thing?

As usual with achievements, they're there for the people that want them and those who don't don't have to bother. I don't see how this could possibly be a bad thing?

"Because the possibility of someone else enjoying this game in a way that I don't frightens me" and "This game is going towards the direction of Mainstream gaming"...

Sad part is some people really think like that, makes me sad...

But hell yeah! Welcome them! As he said 'They are optional' so you don't need to bother with them, so stop being such a wannabe-unique-snowflake-who-thinks-he-matters-to-the-world.

I don't see how this could be a bad idea. If someone doesn't like achievements then he can just simply ignore them.

Blimey, didn't think this would get such a huge response. My thoughts on the matter are much like everyone elses. If it makes the game more fun to play or offers challenges then sure, why not?

I think Left 4 Dead 2 is a good example of achievements doing this. The ones you get for completing a campaign using just melee weapons or for resucing Gnome Chompski make things more interesting.
