So I played the demo of Mirror's Edge, and I think it plays pretty well. I was wondering if anyone had it and would recommend it or discuss gameplay issues.

Seriously i consider mirror's edge as one of the best games i have ever played. It's a bit like Psychonauts in the sense that it is polarizing. Many people will say that it's an amazing game with brilliant storytelling and great environments, and yet other people will say it sucks because there's not enough guns or it's too bright. i recommend a buy if you want to see a truly artistic game with great level design that's also really fucking fun....

If you liked the demo, you'll like the game. My only complaint when I played it was that it's way too damn short. If you enjoy grinding freerunning courses, though, the race mode should compensate for the shortness of the campaign.

I have another complaint now, and I'll tell you why: yesterday I read Doctorow's Little Brother. That book made me want to do something, to stand up for the rights of American citizens to a fair trial and the right to remain silent. This game didn't do that. It had a lot of potential to do so, but it didn't; I think EA and DICE didn't want to piss anyone off by stirring up social controversy. So don't go in expecting a scathing commentary on totalitarian government and the compromising of the Bill of Rights.

I just finished it today, and there wasn't a time I wasn't not enjoying myself. It was a bit short, but the concept and the gameplay were amazing. I will suggest to anyone that they at least rent the game, its short enough to finish on a weekend.

I've bought the full game, and it's pretty fun. The story mode is quite short, but kept me interested. I liked the appearance of the cutscenes, they were nice to watch, and the graphical style overall was very appealing.
It's very easy to get caught up in the free-running, trying to work out how to shave an extra few seconds off your time, to get that three star rating (three is the max, for those who haven't played).

I finished the game several times and I still enjoy it. Sure it's only about 2-3 hours long if you now what to do but it's fun.

I would rent the game.

It's really short, I finished it the day I got it. Took about 5/6 hours in normal mode including all the plummeting to the ground and beatings. There is replay but I'd seriously consider renting it because it's so short.

I recommend it. Yes, I had all 30 messenger backs and beaten it on my first play through in about 3 and a half hours or so, but it was still some of the most fun and exhilarating hours I'd spent playing a video game.

Sometimes the jumps can be slightly annoying, and trying to take down the Pursuit Cops is damn near impossible, but overall, great game.

I personally loved it.

Fucking brilliant game. Yes, it's short, but that's partly because most pointless filler has been removed. A compact dose of fun and adrenaline, as opposed to an endless grind...

Not that a bit of grinding can't be fun now and then, but it seems games nowadays take that route more often than not, probably due to the misguided belief that MORE = BETTER (just like certain authors think LOTSA PAGES = GOOD BOOK). I think we need more games like this.

I played the demo, and I liked it a lot. Although the short campaign (or so I've heard) doesn't quite justify full price for me. I'd accept it as a gift or wait till the price breaks.

I haven't played it yet, but from what I understand of what people are saying, the major complaints are that it's short (5 - 6 hours) and that about halfway through the scenarios switch from outdoors to indoors, which is a massive waste of potential in a free-running game. But overall the game seems solid and quite enjoyable, so if you liked the demo and have the money give it a go.

I loved my time with Mirror's Edge. The story was short, but I considered it more of an intro to the game and then sunk my teeth into the meat and potatoes of the time trials and such. That's where I'm getting my money's worth out of Mirror's Edge.

The mechanics were new and interesting, the art style appealing and fitting for the game, and the story & characters were good and nobody got on my nerves.

All I ask for is a sequel.

I don't think that Mirror's Edge is a bad game I just feel they didn't do enough with it. A game like that and all you do is make 4-6 hour story line? No mini games, no extra modes, no challenges, no hidden easter eggs? That's like making a Tony Hawk game where you can only be Tony Hawk and there are two skate parks and the rest of the game just has you doing commercial or signing autographs. What the hell has every one lost all there imagination?

Half way through it myself, I can honestly say its one of the most enjoyable games i've played in a long time.
Also, i don't think i've ever played a game like it either.

... There are extra modes. Speed runs of chapters, time trials on new courses or layouts that let you roam the full extent of the maps...

There's only one thing I can say about Mirror's Edge:

A lot of bad games in 2008 could have been classics, if they would've been polished.
Mirror's Edge is one of the few good games, who could've been a gaming history mark, if it was polished.

I voted for 'It's Good', as I've only played the demo.

If I played the full game, my opinion might change to 'It's Awesome' or 'It's Not Very Good' depending on how the rest of the game pans out.

I liked the story mode, but the Speed Runs and Time Trials are the most outrageously difficult things I've ever seen, so that lowered my opinion of the game overall.
