Ah, sunday mornings. Laying in bed, still slightly confounded by a weird dream, I use the time to think about society and the world in general.
Well, today's fragment of the past is about mockery and how males and females prefer it. Oh noes, another male/female-thread?
Yes, just bear with me.
So I remembered having a conversation with this girl I barely know. Suddenly, a few of her arrogant but also brainless friends walk up to her and make fun of her. Don't ask me how or why because I did not care enough at the time, being the helpful gentleman that I am.
Anyway, after they left, she turns back to me and says: "Man, I wish they at least did it behind my back."
That confused me utterly. Now, I know that the stereotype dictates that girls are meant to complain about fellow human beings indirectly, through gossip and sniggering. Does it work the other way around as well? How could anyone want this?
So I said to her: "What? It's far better if they are direct. Would you rather they talked about you and mocked you all the time?"
To which she replied: "Well, at least then they wouldn't rub my face in it..."
Huh.
Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. But personally, I'd much rather have them be direct. How else am I supposed to know how to react to their claims?!
So now that this memory fragment came back to me, I want to ask you, The Escapist, what your preference of mockery is.
And because I wonder if she's just a weird person or maybe it's something to do with the female stereotype, I'm splitting this into genders.
By the way, I don't expect the stereotype to be confirmed. I just can't imagine the majority of females wanting this.
