And now time for my weekly thread.

The large time consuming giants of tabletop gaming. Specifically I'm referring to the more casual friendly ones, monopoly risk etc. What is your opinion on them? Do you hate them with a fiery passion? Do you like them greatly? Or do you not care in the slightest about them. Frankly I'm fond of a good game of monopoly or risk because I'm either the victor or a glutton for punishment.

So escapist I ask you this do you like pie? like tabletop games. (D&D somewhat counts.)

Oh hey, my 900th post whadya know.

I don't play board games often enough to care really, but I have played Risk and I love it.

I've played Monopoly multiple times before, as well as other board games.
I quite enjoy them.

And I like Pumpkin pie

I love Risk - it is a man's game. Unfortunately, I don't think I've ever completely finished a game of Risk. Somebody always ends up pulling a "Hand of God" and everyone gets tossed off the board....

I prefer my board games a little...more involved. Like Axis&Allies. I have a boxed copy with the Europe and Pacific expansion sets. Unfortunately, the girl I used to play the game with every Sunday broke up with me in 2003 and I've struggled to find an opponent since (my ex-wife wasn't smart enough to grasp how the game works.)

I love monopoly, me and my friends started playing it everyday for a few weeks. I can tell you all of the values of every property without it being developed on.

I like them, they're fun. Easier to play than cards, generally.

My brother Finn (you know him as Fniff) is an absolute GOD at monopoly. I don't think he's ever not won a game.
Another way to say it is "He not loose ever yeah!"

Kinda good, bit painful to watch though.

It is all about Cranium.
I stopped playing Monopoly after having an incident with my travel set. The money was so small it made me physically sick. True, but sad story.

I actually feel sick just thinking about how small that money was... so... do I have a mental condition?

I enjoy games like Monopoly, Risk and all that stuff.
Never tried anything 'more evolved'... in fact, I wouldn't know where to start looking for them.

OK, that cracked me up. Distilled essence of why I don't play online.

I'm a huge fan of all sorts of card and board games--they were my gateway drug to computer/console games! As a kid, I liked my games so much I made up rules to allow me to play on my own! I'm not proud, but there you go. Cranium is awesome. Aggravation, Trivial Pursuit, Phase 10, Scattergories, I like them all.

I like the IDEA of board games, but my friends are all whiny and super competitive twats who suck all of the fun out of the experience.

I love me some tabletop anythings.

The two boardgames my family plays pretty regularly are Robo Rally (I regularly trounce everyone -- apparently my whole family has trouble with telling their left from their right) and Twilight Imperium. I've also found a new DnD group and a friend of mine has a bunch of D20 Modern one-shots he's finally getting around to running.

I'm not so big on things like Monopoly because I get bored pretty easily and Monopoly goes on and on and on, but there are worse things to play, I suppose.

I used to play Axis and Allies pretty regularly with a couple of my bros. And then one of them moved to California, one got an internship on the East Coast, and one started dated my friend and turned out to be a crazy stalking asshole, so that didn't work out so well, alas.

Haha, that is such a great video. I saw that then went straight onto The Online Gamer 2 :D. I get the feeling he's an Xbox 360 fanboy...

Anyway, as far as board games go, I love me some Monoply. I also have Lord of the Rings Risk, but I've never played it as none of my friends or family are really into it, and it's not really the same playing the single player rules. Oh, and I also colelct Warhammer 40k, Tau Empire to be precise, though I haven't played for ages since I can't really afford to build up my army much now. I'll probably get back into it after I get a part time job, since then I'll be able to afford a better army again :D.

I do enjoy board games, but my brother is never willing to play, because I am extreamely lucky when it comes to board games and he is the opposite. My favourite would be risk 2210, which is risk set in the future. They gave every country a weird name and we have cities underwater, and fighting of domination of the moon. Good fun.

You wouldn't happen to be anywhere near Reno, would you? Like I mentioned earlier, I haven't had a worthy opponent in almost seven years!
