So I was having lunch with a friend some friends the other day, a couple of them old roommates of mine. We (in a lighthearted fashion, we were laughing about it) started talking about each others annoying habits when we lived together. There were other roommates of mine, however, that made dorm room or apartment life unenjoyable.

Which brings me to my question: What are some of the more annoying habits your roommates have had?

Mine:
-The Total Slob: I'm a clean guy, but I can let a good deal of others' messiness slide. But part of the reason I moved into an apartment during college was that I wanted to be able to invite a lot of people over (my college had strict visitation policies). One roommate made that...impossible. Basically, the apartment because a disgusting roach-inviting, underwear displaying, "holy shit, what the hell is this crusted shit in this bowl and why does it smell like raw sewage"-producing pit. The place was smelly, unsightly, and I was out of that place as soon as I could.

The "I'll hit you up later with the rent." Later doesnt come...
Then its kicking one out, changing the locks and trying again.

You can take him to court. I know at least four different groups of people who did that and were reimbursed (it was worse because the roommate didn't pay rent, subscribed to a premium Direct TV package and then left town for the summer without letting anyone know).

One of the groups who won in court ended up having a party with the money they got back. They called it The "It's on Phil" Party (that was the name of the roommate).

The bitcher. The one who has a problem with everything you do regardless if its his business or not. Yes I am drinking, I have a shot of vodka every friday this has not changed since I moved in, If you don't want your niece to see this don't invite her over on the one day of the week I drink.

The passive aggressive note leaver has to be the least annoying, right?
The Passive Agressive Note Leaver also tends to ***** to his/her friends (who may or may not also be some of your friends). Then one of them confronts you, and not the roommate himself.

I never had one of these roommates. A hell of a lot of girls I know did/do, though. Sorry if I'm stereotyping there.

Ha I am definitely "The Passive Agressive Note Leaver" as for the annoying roomate habit I'm voting the food stealer. I buy food for ME and not for anyone else! It acceptable if they ask me to get it for them including handing me their money to pay for it.
One time when it was days away from leaving my flat so there is no point buying large potion of food so I bought a small carton of milk from the local sop which was walking distance from the flat. The next day the milk is empty! God danm lazy roommates who can't be arse to walk to the local shop to get their own milk!

Now I understand. Your friends have my sympathies, and the note leavers have my raised eyebrows and contempt.

I think the closest is the "snob". I had a roommate who had to be right about everything and he obsessively kept tabs on debt. Also, everything was my fault for some reason.

I'd have to say the "technologically illiterate to the point he can barely operate a light switch" roommate, it doesn't sound bad at first, but it gets really annoying when he constantly asks for help plugging things in

Haha! The roommate I stuck with the longest is named Cooper (he was a Bill Enhancer). Though he became better over time, after a year or so of me ragging on him.

Bill enhancer (This includes food thief for me).

My money is a big deal to me.

I've never had a room mate like that, but they would not be one for long.
