Greeting fellow escapees.

So i've just had a go at the crysis 2 demo and it's left me in a bit of a dilemma. You see, I was originally intending to get the game for pc, simply due to the fact that i played the first one and enjoyed, so getting the second seemed like a no-brainer. However, having played the demo on my xbox, I'm now stumped. please note, i dont want this to turn into a PC or console bashing. I just want to figure out which would give the greater benefits. As i see it:

PC pro:

Better graphics
Mods
fluid controls

PC cons:

Not many of my friends have the hardware to play it :(

Console pro:

All my friends have xboxs :p

Console con:

it doesn't look quite as good.
controls less fluid

Well personally I'd go for console cause I want to play online with my friends who are getting it too...

However if you really like mods and the console controls hinder your experience, then by all means go for the PC version.

If you don't mind the reduced graphics and reeeeeally want to play with your friends, go ahead and get the console version.

But I'd go for the PC version myself.

Well you will probably spend alot of time on multiplayer with friends right?
So clearly get the xbox version.

As for the best platform to play it on... I'll take it as a rhetorical question.

I think you answered your own question. I played Crysis on the PC so guess i'll be sticking with that and i'm not good at shooters on consoles.

The thing is my friends will probably play it for a month then give up, like they have done for every other game we ever got lol.

And yeah maybe "best" was the wrong word. Perhaps "most fun" or "most appropriate". I don't know. This wasnt meant to be a competition lol

You would be surprised how little power you actually need to play Crysis as long as you lower the graphics settings. My cousin plays it on his laptop with a Radeon 3470M. Crysis 2 should be more optimised too as I would doubt Crytec would screw up the optimisation again. Get it on PC and get your friends to do so too.

Yup, it's a console port now. It'll be a little taxing at maximums but not as bad as Crysis was. Massively reduced draw distances, claustrophobic even, compared to the original. The game won't tax your mates PC's if they can play other console ports on them. It will look a lot better on a Directx 11 PC than any console though. Besides you'll make new friends.

360 definitely gets screwed thanks to gamepad only interface. PS3 could very well support Keyboard & Mouse if the devs want to go for it (or Move for that matter).

It's well done for a console shooter, but would still be a lot better on PC thanks to the controls. Also, the system requirements are damn low - there shouldn't be many people who can't run Crysis 2 (counter-intuitive, I know), so just tell your friends to buy the PC version.

I do think it's a shame that CryTek appears to be taking a few steps back here. The major appeal of Crysis (for me at least) was spending an hour or two on each massive singleplayer map, just exploring the beautiful scenery and adapting my play style on the fly (stealth sniping in whatever piece of realistic vegetation I want? Hell yes).

I hope Crysis 2 still has that, otherwise it might just be a "generic" shooter.
