Poll: Most "evil" video game publisher?

No Apple?

Honestly, there's very little in between them at the moment. EA's advertising, Activision's cloning, Ubisoft's PR, Microsoft's control fixation, Apple's comfort dealers...they're all as bad as each other. Each of them have near illegal practices, profit based morals and an army of slathering fanzombies.

Valve may be utter bastards in real life - but against their peers, they shine like angels.

EA. They have a record of fucking things up, like the Dead Space 2 marketing catastrophe and leading the online pass charge.

Its unfortunate that your poll list is going to be affected by your own bias. Listing them in the order you have basically guarantees people will vote for EA. While I think they are the worst offenders, you should list something like this alphabetically to avoid influencing the poll. Cheers.

Those mother fuckers who decided that they wouldn't show all those who made L.A. Noire in the credits of the game.

Nintendo, they have the titnacity to make a good rpg and give it to everyone except america, that's just not fare and really doesn't make sense.
I'm still very mad at them.

Valve. Any dev that witholds Meet the Pyro and Half Life 2: Episode 3 is clearly dining on babies and puppies with Skeletor.

Still say Activision. Their little tradition of gutting a studio after a game ships shows that they're unconcerned with anything but the profit (even EA, who rushes developers tries to keep their developers together).

The shitty working conditions has been named by every studio under every developer under every publisher the last few years. Or did you miss out on LA Noire and Homefront? Along with many others!

I hope you don't use Steam then or you're a horrible hypocrite.

Battlefield 1943 is going to PS3 users.

I'd say EA because of their malicious business practices (Project Ten Dollar, insulting competition) and their brain-dead marketing department.

Activision in my opinion is not evil. They're just not very creative. They need to do more than run every series they've ever succeeded with into the ground.

No contest. EA. Activision comes close but recently EA has gone out of their way to prove how much worse they are.

That's quite a tough one now that I come to think of it. But when all is said and done, it's a toss-up between EA, Activision and Ubisoft. They all treat their customers like dirt and are massive dickheads about it, too.

EA has it's crazy online passes and it's insane greed and avarice.
Activision has Bobby Kotick, stagnation of the CoD series as well as greed and avarice.
Ubisoft treats all gamers like they were all thieves.

But if I had to choose one, I'd say it were Activision. Once the respectable publishers of the Mechwarrior series, now turned into a corporate juggernaut whose greed knows no bounds by milking it's Band/Guitar Hero and CoD franchises for everything they're worth. Their crappy and overpriced DLC and let's not forget CoD: Elite.

***Rage mode: on*** If they got rid of Bobby Kotick, it'd go some way to redeeming them in my eyes. A greedy swine like him deserves to dipped in molten gold.

I'm actually going to go with Ubi. Why? Well, EA and Activision have done some pretty shady things, but they at least have a logic to it. Generally, they do things that makes customers feel like an exploitable resource rather then foster a community of goodwill. When they do something wrong, you can see the logic to it. It all can be summed up by, "Well, we want to make good games, but lets make sure we suck every cent we can from those gamers" It's short-sighted, but also buisness.

Ubi, however, has actually expressed unrepentant HATE for there consumers. Just recently, they have called all PC gamers thief's and pirates who they actively dislike. They could have easily just given the PR-spin of suchandsuch not being a priority at the time, and you know what, I'm fine with that. If they don't like the business model that's their choice. But literally trolling from a CEO? Thats just wrong.

Also, didn't Ubi pioneer the always on DRM that led to a surge in Piracy? Yeah, not cool.

I'd normally say Activision but EA have really upped their game in evilness this year. Online passes, Origin, bad marketing, bad customer service and after re-introducing myself to Star Wars Battlefront 2 I'm pissed about Pandemic aswell.
And can someone provide a link that shows they are in support SOPA? I want to throw peanuts at something and shout "Booooooo!" at it.

I stand corrected, but they'll need to do allot more than that to get back my respect.

Wait, they support SOPA? Could I have a link please? Well that changes my vote.

OT: Until I saw this, I said Activision, mostly because I just don't like them.

I was talking about EA, not other studios. I'm aware of bad working conditions - and I don't think they are okay at all. But once more we were talking about EA here. Just because other studios have had similar claims it does not mean that it's okay for EA.

Really? All I've is that a lawsuit is being filed against EA. Where is the article that states EA said sorry for deceiving people and is putting out Battlefield 1943 for download?

EA, Evil Arts, for it's stupid online passes, it's borderline spyware Origin system, it's strangling of BioWare sequels and the biggest rip-off in sports games, Madden NFL.
