Wow, I love how EA is at the top of your list, the one that's been voted for the most and the one that I voted for. It's almost as if this thread was taylor-made to put them in a bad spotlight.
Yeah, the reason why I put EA and Activision as the first two choices is because they are the two companies that came to my mind first. I should have randomized the list so that it didn't reflect my personal views. Oh well, too late now.
I don't really mind, it's just an internet forum after all, but I thought I'd point it out for any future polls you might want to make.

Don't like what they do? Stop whining and... stop giving them your money! They'll either change their tune or die. We're in control.

Sadly that would take self control and responsibility. Things my generation actively mock.

We're the problem. Not them.

EA cause they absorbed Westwood Studios and horrifically maimed Command & Conquer. Than murdered it with RA-3 and C&C-4.
I'll never forgive them for ruining my former favorite games series.

Valve, for making near the entirety of PC gaming dependent on both DRM and digital downloads, while single handedly creating a monopoly on digital download systems and eliminating the PC used games market.

Also, the insidious, money-sucking fiend that is... hats. Damn them...
And what a good job they did ^_^
I love you Valve...

OT: I hate Activision for their sins against mankind

That's harder to then you may think, because EA nowadays is more of a publisher than a developer. Even if you don't want them to have your money they're going to get it anyway through profit returns. Battlfield 3 is a good example: Developed by Raven, PUBLISHED by EA. If you wanted to support Raven for their work it meant that you had to pay EA as well.

OT: My vote goes to EA for that FUCKING STUPID Origin EULA (-_____-)

EA, because their business practices (especially in the marketing department) are horribly short-sighted and actually harm the general public's perception of video games. And yet, it's practically impossible to avoid buying their games since they publish excellent games, like Mass Effect and Dead Space. That's true evil, when an entity can do whatever the hell they want, and no one wants to do anything about it.

EA.
EA EA EA.
There is no publisher on this planet I despise more than E fucking A.
They have done soooooooo much to piss me off, lets look at a little list of things they've done in just the past two years...

Online Passes
Always on DRM
Annual EA sports cash in titles
The Dante's Inferno Ad campaign
The Dead Space 2 Ad campaign
Pulling all their games off Steam
Origin
Origin bans
Origin functioning as spyware
Promising fans a free copy of Battlefield 1943 and than "changing their mind"
Shitty customer service
Supporting SOPA

I can go on ALL DAY folks...

EA wins because of their terrible business practices and that damned Origin system. I'm too tired to rant now, but they firmly cemented themselves in first place for me a long time ago. Disgusting.

Activision and Ubisoft are both in a tight race for second.

Wait, they support SOPA? Could I have a link please? Well that changes my vote.

OT: Until I saw this, I said Activision, mostly because I just don't like them.

I had decent views of EA until this year came along...

- The rushing of Dragon Age 2.
- The horrific marketing campaign for Dead Space 2.
- Origin and the controversy surrounding it.
- (Along with Origin) - Them removing their games from Steam, being immature about it, and restricting Battlefield 3 and future games to Origin use only.
- Lying about bonuses for games. (Where is Battlefield 1943 for the PS3 users?)
- The support of SOPA.
- Shitty customer service and horrible working conditions for their employees.

It really sucks cause a lot of the titles they publish I enjoy immensely. Such as Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Battlefield...I'm looking forward to Kingdom of Amalur as well.

Activision is the most evil in that it not only does everything it can to abuse the industry and the consumers, but openly praises itself for doing so. It's a destructive, malevolent force at this point.

EA is the most suspiciously inept of the big companies. Not to say they can't ship a product, but they're mishandling EVERYTHING lately. Not even in a greedy way; they seem to be doing everything they can't to sabotage the work of their developers. It's mind-bogglingly bad operating, but it's not evil. It's just incompetence.

Ubisoft, judging by recent events is the most spiteful.

So Activision is the dark overlord that rules with an iron fist and a penchant for genocide, EA is the bumbling moron of an evil henchman that ruins everyone's plans by accident, and Ubisoft is the stubborn child that sticks its tongue out and takes its toys away because it didn't get the last piece of cake.

Last year, I would have said Activision, but now my answer is EA.

From the plethora of bad business practices about Origin, and the rushing, mainstreaming(?) and therefore utter ruination of DA:2, to the awful marketing they've had going, it's pretty hard not to pick them.

I suppose they're more greedy and incompetent than they are actually evil though. :p

P.S. When it comes to Microsoft think of their record with gaming as opposed to their overall business practices.
Good thing you added this last bit. Just today I was thinking how MS kind of started the current era of PC game DRM when they required online activation for WinXP.

At the time I remember people saying "this sucks, only a limited number of activations and it requires internet access." But MS used their OS monopoly to shove it down our throats, and after that game publishers could see that we would tolerate it.

Anyway, I voted for EA because so many of their games have been ruined by anti-customer greed. Even though Ubisoft is shit and I'll never buy from them, I don't count them as "evil" since they don't really make any games I want to play so I don't actually care about them.

you make a very interesting point, Ive always wondered abotu steam aparent monopoly, and gamers not even touvhing games that artn on there.

OR do you supose the digital distribution platform was just inevitable anyway?

I would figure part of the reason the PC sections in game stores are smaller is because they cant make money off them with pre-owned sales, I doubt steam was the first ever to use DRM

anyway buy the looks of this thread Im going to say..

ALL OF THEM

there you go

Activision would've been my vote a little while ago because of how over-priced all their games are (in NZ retail at least), but when EA flipped the bird to Steam and tried to push Origin upon us, that was the last straw...
