I'm not usually one to ***** and whine about movies being remade. It happens all the time and has been happening pretty much since the second movie ever made ( http://www.cracked.com/article_19190_6-classic-movies-you-didnt-know-were-remakes_p2.html ) to name a few. But while checking IMDb earlier I ran across a list of up coming movies in the next few years ( http://www.imdb.com/list/ZkZeYf2Nleg/ ) and was absolutely blown away by the sheer number of remakes that are coming out:

Hellraiser (2012)
The Birds (2013)
Poltergeist (2013)
An American Wolf in London (2014)
Pet Sematary (2013)
Leatherface 3D (2013)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2012)
The Stand (2012)

FYI: These are all reported to be in one form or another of pre-production according to IMDb and as Movie Bob pointed out that doesn't mean they'll necessarily see the light of day, but still I just don't know how to feel about this. On the one had it would be pretty awesome if we actually got a few remakes that were great and built upon the original and brought it to a wider audience (I can almost see this with The Stand) but some of them I just absolutely don't see a point in remaking. Can anyone picture The Birds with out Hitchcock? (And have it not be laughably retarded)

To further add to my flabbergastedness both The Dark Tower series and Paradise Lost are being adapted to the big screen. I will say in Dark Tower's defense Stephen King is doing the screen writing and Ron Howard are directing and making it into a trilogy with at least two seasons of a TV show in between the movies, so while I have reservations, it does have a snow ball's chance in hell of being good. But Paradise Lost? The monumental work of one of the most influential poets in the English language? If this movie is actually good I will take it as irrefutable proof of God's existence since without divine intervention there is no way this movie could not be terrible.

Anyway, to wrap up this meandering rambling emo rant from a fully grown adult; How do you feel about these remakes/adaptations? Any other remakes you've heard about? Am I off my rocker and should I just STFU? Complaints about spelling/grammar?

PS: Poll included for shits and giggles

PPS: According to Wiki the Bird's remake has been stalled since 2009, thank god:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birds_%28film%29#Sequel_and_remake

How do I feel about An American Werewolf in London being remade? Pretty much like this:

The original is a classic, a damn near perfect horror film with comic relief. Why in God's name would they want to mess with it?
