i was just wondering how people feel about music festivals,

obviously there are loads of different types as well, so which do you prefer Download type rock festivals, Global gathering dance festivals, or something more middle groundish and indie, like Reading and Leeds .

personally i prefer reading festival, no way influenced by the fact im going there again for the third year in a row.
but its a good lot of fun. there is great live music, superb atmosphere, alcohol, and then fun off camping with friends. so have you, or are you going to any festivals and why?
and if you dont like festivals why not?

Music Festivals in my town usually amount to nothing more than drunk teenagers jumping up and down (alternatively, lying on the ground puking)... No thanks, I think I'd rather go and listen to the local symphony orchestra.

I love music festivals. Going to Download and possibly Bloodstock this year, should be fun.

Love the music, it's the festival part I have a problem with. I don't mind a load of great bands playing at the same place during the same days. But the thought of mud and thousands of people drunk to the boot doesn't really appeal to me.

Whether you enjoy a music festival is dependant entirely on the lineup.

I went to Reading last year and the actual gig side of it was fantastic because there were lots of artists I wanted to see, but the camping side of it was terrible because there were lots of drunken louts roving around the campsites thinking they were able to do what they wanted because their parents weren't around.

Same here. I try not to go to them for this reason.
I've been to a few out of town festivals that were fun, but I wouldn't really go out of my way to attend them.

Going to Sonisphere this year which I am looking forward to (especially due to the Fear factory reunion!!!). Luckily I sold my Reading Weekend ticket. It's now populated by rich 14 year olds who don't even go and see any bands. Oh yeah and indie-shit music. Also last year the campsite was horrendous. It's never been that bad before. I actually live in Reading so I just up and left after the headliners, 10 minute walk, nice comfy bed.
