I have a hard enough time paying attention to people without metal playing in my head all day. It would be kinda sucky to not be able to hear music at all movies would lose there pizazz, video games would lose atmosphere, and car rides would be boring beyond fucking belief but I think it would be better overall to never hear it again.

Would you rather never listen to music (so all you can listen to is the mainstream shit today. OH SNAP. I was saying it's not music if you didn't catch that. Anyway...) or listen to it forever, never stops playing in your head. It would stay at a maintained volume, no one else knew it either. The music would play according to your situation. Or not. Doesn't matter.
But mainstream music is awesome. That's why it's mainstream. If heaps of people didn't love it it wouldn't be mainstream. Anyway I always have music of some sort in my head so this situation already exists for me and I'm completely fine with it.
When I say mainstream, I mean like Lady Gaga, other stuff like that. Maybe you like that, in which case I will silently mourn your taste in music.
I repeat, mainstream music is awesome. That's why it's mainstream. If heaps of people didn't love it it wouldn't be mainstream.
No, it's mainstream because the sheeple are entertained by the words that have no meaning. Just because the majority likes it, doesn't make it good. It may make it good to the majority, but the majority are annoying people. At least where I'm from.
In a democracy, the majority liking something is the very definition of something 'being good'. The thing that gives happiness to the largest number of people, is that which is most desired.

Pop music's lyrics don't have significantly less meaning that music in any other style. Trust me on this. I'd rather listen to something that is knowingly shallow than something which tries oh-so-hard to be meaningful and fails miserably.

I'd rather have no music then, to have it constantly playing in my head would drive me nuts.

Please, don't knock Lady GaGa.
She went to Juilliard, for Pete's sake.
She's an incredibly talented vocalist and composer. It's why she's ridiculously famous now.

Obviously forever. Man, that'd be awesome. Music, but at a nice level, not interfering with anything, in my head, not needing an ipod.

Plus, I practicly listen to music all the time anyway.

You are asking, would I want theme music playing in my head?

Heck, there's always a tune stuck up there anyway. I'd love to have it at least related to what's going on around me.

Now, you really should've used the magic words "in my opinion", because, in all fairness, without them, Bonsaik is right.

I don't listen to music at all really, so I would have to go with no music.

I listen to music a lot, so I'd go for 'forever'...
as long as I could choose what it was that was playing. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.

Personal theme music FTW!

Any music; I likes it all, even if I can't understand most of it.

I really don't care where she went. I dislike her. For one, I dislike her songs, for two, she's fucking creepy, for three, she is overrated, in my opinion.

Yeah, this really isn't any different then what it's like already; I've always got music stuck in my head. If I had to choose just one, though, I'd take the Beatles, I never tire of them.

I'm about to generalize like a ************. I will state that this is my own observation, is probably false, etc. The majority of people that I see listening to mainstream stuff, are not the sharpest pencil in the drawer, if you catch my drift. Most of the intellectual people I know do not listen to that stuff. Yet again, these are my own observations, just stating what I've seen. Not saying it is for everyone... Just saying. And also, I would rather listen to something that nails the meaningful-ness and is awesome at the same time. For me, the people who get that done, would be Rise Against... My opinion.

I don't know what the question is asking me.
Do I get to choose the music that plays in my head?
If so, does my subconscious choose or do I have to specifically pick a song?
If not, is the song choice appropriate for the situation, like choosing an upbeat song when I'm feeling down?
What if I choose never and I begin to like the crap that plays today? Does that mean that it would go away?
What about situations where a specific song that would be called music is played elsewhere, like a movie or TV commercial? Would I hear it?
These questions need to be answered before I can give you my honest answer.

Very ninja'd my firsting friend.
Hypothetically, I'm letting you choose whether or not you choose or it is the moment thing. You choose whether it's music to match, or music to cheer up, whatever. Just explain it. And you would NEVER hear music. Nothing. Squat.

THAT IS EEEEEPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIC!!! FINNISH DEATH METAL!!!

I wouldn't mind listening to music forever if it fit the situation. Bonus if I could make others hear it!

Thats cool, because Rise Against is not mainstream at all *SARCASM*

So by your logic, Twilight is awesome because its popular?

Besides mainstream music is made for the vast majority that dont know music below the surface, they love it, cuz they dont know what they like, and they dont have any other music to love, because they havent found whats under the surface.
When I say mainstream, I mean the stuff that is played constantly on radios. I can't go on sirius or XM (I dunno what I have) without hearing it. That's my definition. Maybe it's a stupid definition then. Rise Against is kind of mainstream, but mainly their new album, which is disliked by many who like Rise Against before, and it seems as if they were trying to be mainstream there.

And I love your reply to the other guy.
