Poll: MW2 Steam modded server?

Playing MW2 yesterday through steam, click to join a team deathmatch and I land on a modded spas-12 only server, after a couple of minutes running around having fun I get disconnected for "security reasons" and I find I have levelled up to level 70, and gained everything that comes from that. How common is this? is it legal? is it fair? can I be banned for it? any other info on modded servers such as own experiences is welcomed ^_^

It's happened to me in the past. I subsequently quit the game and Steam, went back into the game and returned to my original Level/XP.

I have heard of some people using such servers to level up and get extra classes after prestiging normally for 3/4 times.

The way to normally figure out if it is a modded server is the time limit (being 3334:09 or whatever) people jumping around extremely high or just a lack of being able to kill anyone you shoot at. At least that's how it has been for my experiences.

I don't think you would be banned for being on such a server accidentally. I'm sure you could try and message someone from IW or Steam/whatever and try and get unbanned (though I'm not sure how that would turn out) if the eventuality did happen.
