Poll: My Mom Likes Video Games

After reading about twenty thousand stories here lately about some mom up in arms about video games, I would just like to say that my mother finds gaming to be a healthy habit when done in moderation, and doesn't believe that the word "shit head" will turn me into a serial killer. My mother can not be the only one!

Does your mom like games? Yes or no? Why?

She doesn't mind them, probably wishes I didn't spend as much time on them as I do. Doesn't play herself.

She hates games period. Boardgames, cardgames, includes videogames too. She is one of the dullest persons I've ever met. It's almost a miracle that I ended up the way I am with people like that around me.

She plays Facebook games and Puzzle games, but we also play games together, like Worms, Peggle, old school Mario, Castlevania, Mario Party, Rampage, Mortal Kombat, and Left 4 Dead and Call of Duty. She sucked, yeah, but she tried.

My mom likes the old RE games and adventure games, such as Myst. I think she might enjoy something like Minecraft as well.

My Mom doesn't particularly care. She probably would if I was couped up in the house all the time playing them but that's not an issue.

She doesn't play but she desperately wants a Wii although she refuses to buy one herself. She spent ages trying to convince me to get one, so she could use it, even though I don't live at home anymore.
It's cute though, I may get her one for her birthday.

My mom never really minded me playing games. Technically she was the one who got me into them, teaching me how to play Super Mario World on the SNES when I was 4. I don't think she expected me to latch onto them the way I have though. There was a period of five years where she loathed my playing of video games but that was mostly because my grades in school were suffering. Now that I'm off in college she doesn't care at all.

My mom has played every Zelda game, and used to be a big doom player. She loved harvest moon on the GBA, but she has little time for gaming now because of the new house my parents just bought she still loves games.

Short version, my mom is AWESOME.

My mother is actually a gamer as well, its the reason why I am one to.. she was more the SNES and Sega Genesis era's though, she doesn't handle anything first person very well, she tried Half Life but only lasted an hour or so.

These days its just the Wii (mario Kart, Smash Brothers), Guitar Hero, Facebook games and puzzle games.. although she still actively takes an interest in my games, what I'm playing, whats good thats coming out etc.

So I'd say I've had it pretty damn easy when it comes to my gaming hobby, I've never had to justify why I spend so much time playing them. My father on the other hand.. well..games, no thanks (he's polite about it though at least).

How fortunate for you. My Mom is ok with them as long as, like you said, they're used in moderation. She herself likes to do Wii Fit from time to time. I even managed to get my Dad into playing the DS.

When i was like 8 i from somewhere acquired Predator 2 for the sega megadrive and i found it impossible, but yet she spent a day once giving it a go and completed it.

My mom plays the typical "Mom-games" and some adventure games. She doesnt think gaming is bad but I know she wants me to play less and go out more so I can find a "girlfriend".

I got my mum to play Wario-ware when I had my Wii...it was pretty damn funny.

I'm going to say Yes but she only likes card games and hidden object games. So... only a little.

She does have a awesome rant at people I play RDR online with, about how shit they are etc. forgetting there's a mic on my headset She's awesome!

honestly, my mom couldn't give less of a shit about games, that's just how she rolls =P

I mean, it's not like she's against them or anything like that, she does just doesn't care about them

Where's the "meh" option? My mother doesn't like me playing for hours, but doesn't get infuriated upon seeing me play them.

She hates the games I play, but is hooked onto Facebook games. Even moreso than I am hooked onto Minecraft.

And by the way... she hates Minecraft as well...
