Now, after discussing karma with a fellow user on the site, albeit loosely, I began to wonder about something.

Has anyone on this site made up for a bad deed they did in their past or made a list of things they did and want to make up for, like from the TV show called My Name Is Earl. This can be anything from apologizing for a small thing like breaking a window by accident or something major like...stealing a car or something. I myself, will admit to a little bit of shop lifting when I was younger but that?s it. I have yet to make up for it so I'll think I may go and admit it to the shops owners. And absolutely nothing else has happened.
M'kay? You heard nothing about me and a bus full of nuns...

So what I am basically asking is: Do you believe in the mantra 'What goes around, comes around'? And have you tried to right the wrongs that you may have done in your younger years?

[sup]NOTE: Yes, this is meant as a bit of fun as well as me trying to get you guys to open up to evil deeds that you did. And I am also aware this has be done but nothing that asks you to admit to anything. Last one was a month ago[/sup]

I have not done what Earl does. And I sincerely hope that nobody finds out my evil.

I do believe in it. Although not in a magical sense. But if you act a certain way with a certain person, that person may act the same, or act differently than what he/she normally would when meeting you or another person.

I believe in it. If I do something wrong, I will apologize as soon as possible to the person, unless I truly mean what I said.

I don't know the worst thing I can ever think of doing was stealing a lighter once, which doesn't matter I gaven so much money to that little story with their ridiculously high prices.

So I have yet to see Karma work for me or against me.

I think you're missing a "Maybe" option. I can remember one occurrence of the top of my head of "karma" or at least "what goes around, comes around" happening and if I think for a while I can probably remember more. While there's no proof there was some mystical force of ether aura flowing or something, such things are indeed strange..

And yes, I'm going to leave you unaware of the details pondering the mysteries of whatever I might be talking about. Nyah~!

I'd like to think its real since good things happen to me when I'm being a good person, but I see people suffering who have done nothing wrong and I just can't bring myself to believe in it.

I haven't tried to make up for a past bad deed since I really have never done anything bad unless you count eating a Snikers Bar without paying for it bad.

i believe that if you're nice to people, they'll be nice to you, for the most part. that's not really the same as karma...

I think that when you do good, you receive good. There's nothing supernatural about it, but it is true.

You make a good point on the maybe option.

My friend believes in "Road Karma" where if they let someone out at a busy junction or something similar someone will do the same for them. Not sure of it's success rate to be honest.

I do think 'What goes around, comes around' is true to a certain extent, they way you act affects how people act back towards you.

I don't believe there's a cosmic force that rewards the good or punishes the wicked. So no, I don't believe in karma. I do think that if you're a jerkass, you'll eventually hoist your own petard, but, again, that's as a direct result of their actions and not the universe smacking them in the balls.

Bad things can come back around and bite you, but that has nothing to do with karma and more with the possible consequences of an action. And besides as they say "No good dead goes unpunished."

I'm a firm believer in 'randomness'. And then I don't mean the lolrandumb nonsense that always seems to involve sporks, penguins, and tired old Monty Python jokes (kids nowadays are so original), but the idea that random occurrences are a fundamental part of the way the universe works, and that most of what is commonly interpreted as 'luck' or 'karma' or anything similar is just a random coincidence. I believe that anything that happens is because of interactions between cause-and-effect and randomness, not some divine plan or karmic balance that affects everyone.

I believe that karma is "real" not as a spiritual principle, but more in the way that, everything you do has consequences. Maybe no one will find out you stole that last piece of cake, but the effect on your morality and character of not owning up to that will come back to hurt you later.

Everything is connected. :3 I feel like such a hippie.

I don't believe in anything that is not directly related to myself or people. Believing in something like karma, or an afterlife, or almost anything doesn't make it true or untrue. Believing is just an opinion, one I don't bother with, I don't see the point in throwing a veil over my mind for the sake of some personal comfort. If it exists, it does, if it doesn't, that's fine as well.

Now to get on with the topic, "what goes around comes around" is a saying that does exist for a reason. If you act like a jackass to someone, odds are that you get the same treatment in return. If you lie to a friend often and he finds out, you bet that he won't trust you that easily from now on. If you beat your dog often, chances are that he'll grow vicious and attack you. Hence, karma exists in some sort of way.

As for karma as some sort of universal score meter, I haven't seen anything pointing in that direction. If you've shoplifted on the other side of the country, I really doubt it'll bite you in the ass on a completely different place, that is if the people there don't know about you being a shoplifter. How would that work anyway.

Anyway, I'm being a Buzz Killington again (oh I love being him from time to time) so I'll just play along. No I haven't done anything in my younger years that I tried to set right. I was a good kid, a dull kid. Figures, I had to spend most of my time dodging bullies, so I ended up staying inside playing with my LEGO's and computer games.

However, occasionally, I try to set a lie I made right. I often lie to my parents, to keep things hidden from them. Mind you, I don't like lying, even though I do it often. I especially don't like lying, or even not telling the whole truth, to someone I actually care about (sadly, unlike my parents) and if I still tell a lie I usually end up feeling guilty and I try to slowly but surely slip in the truth. Afterall, I want to be honest, but I don't like punishment either, so I stay careful.

Also, My Name Is Earl is a brilliant show and has one of the most likeable anti-heroes ever.

No I do not believe in Karma, if you aren't horrible to anyone something bad will happen to you at some point in time. It's all coincidences.
