what do you guys and gals think about someone getting a mohawk? and i don't mean messy bed-head faughawks. i mean shaved on two sides-rock 'N' roll-mohawks.
i say yay if the person doesn't have a weird-shaped head.

If they are a rock star sure, otherwise they have no excuse or good reason to get one. Unless you're cosplaying or something.

"YAY!"

Why not? It's their hair after all. I have a few distant friends who are into the whole Punk/Ska scene so it's part of their look and is pretty cool.

My question is this: Why can't you phrase your topic with "Mohawks, aye or nay?" or similar?
Your topic is misleading, and it annoys me. Sorry.

I like proper Mohawks. Even more so when it is dyed something vibrant. That is on the condition the person wielding it has a personality to match the "out there" style.

A mohawk is just another way of saying "HEY!! HEY LOOK AT ME!! I'M OVER HERE!! HEY!!!1!". So while they may look cool (sometimes) they're also kind of stupid.

I don't support them, but I don't condemn anyone who has one. I just don't like them

I think they look ugly. I obviously don't care if someone has one, I just would never get one myself and I think it looks weird.

Honestly I don't even like it on rock stars or people you'd "expect" to have one.

It's up to you. Definitely avoid it if you're trying to get into certain professions, though. I had one three years ago because I had grown out my hair for a year and made a bet with a friend that I would get a mohawk when I finally got it cut. So my girlfriend at the time shaved the sides of my head and I went with liberty spikes for a few days then cut it down some (it was too much damn work!) and kept a mohawk until it grew out.

But it did cause some problems...

I volunteered with a lot of charities and ministry-type organizations in college. I had to help raise funds for a big event we were holding in a poor community by going to local businesses and telling them about it. Well, this is South carolina and a lot of older people aren't comfortable with people who look how I did at the time. It was unfortunate, and it probably affected some of our sponsors.

It was mostly fun, but there were some issues. I had to get some new clothes for it. I generally dress slightly preppy or outdoorsy even though I am heavy into punk. Those don't go well with a mohawk.

I used to have a mohawk, so yay. I didn't style it in the traditional way though, which I personally found to look a lot better. I've been growing my hair out the last couple months, it's strange to have a full head of hair. >.<

Mohawks looks good on certain people, horrible on others. So long as the style compliments the person wearing it, I like it. And wow, a lot of people don't seem to like mohawks. I agree that there are people who sport the style that make it look bad, but there are tons of people who make it look great too. Or maybe I'm just biased. <.<

I pity the foo who hates on mohawks!

but seriously... why do people judge each other on this sort of completely superficial bullshit? I can't recall a single time when someone's clothing or hairstyle really mattered to me. Even Man-Faye is an alright guy if you look past the shock-drag look and have a beer with him.

Also, it's faux [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faux]hawk.

I think they can be kinda hot, but not if they're like, a foot tall. Kinda interesting to look at though.
I like the shorter ones, around 4 or so to 6 inches tall.
