Ok, Halo 3: ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers)
Campaign is not very long and will probably bore people after a few months, but hey at least the soundtrack is good as always. The voice actors are pretty good, and you will probably like them whether you are a Firefly fan or not. And since ODST has more romance in it than all the other Halo games put together, I would've liked it if they made Dare look a bit more attractive (they did this with Commander Keys on Halo 2/3, so it seems the only female Bungie really cares about is Cortana). In terms of the weapons the silenced SMG doesn't do much but at least it looks cooler. Less powerful and you can't carry as much ammo but has a scope and a faster rate of fire than the assault rifle (if it really makes a difference). The AutoMag pistol is alot like the Covenant Carbine, but cooler looking and more accurate (a good gun if you want to pull off plenty of headshots). But I'm pissed it took them so long to make the change. Scoring and seeing sprees and double/triple kill etc symbols come up if you want them on campaign and skulls are automatically there. The audio logs weren't all that insipiring since there it wasn't very good backstory and was no link to many if the main characters, plus we all know Dead Space and Bioshock did it WAY better. But Firefight is where it gets depressing. It's a great concept (like Gears 2's horde) but why isn't there any Firefight matchmaking. At least then it's good to know you can play Firefight whenever you want instead of sending invites to your friends and hoping they want to play. So good for you if you have Sergeant Johnson, but good luck playing as him for a decent amount of time. And the maps are bassically scenes from the campaign making it sometimes feel like I'm fighting against alot of Covanent in a place I've already been giving it a "been there, done that" feel. Also, I live in Australia and when I try to play co-op or Firefight with someone from another country, the lag is unbearable. So Bungie have quite frankly failed this part.
But still a good game that you will enjoy whether you are or aren't a Halo fan.
(I do realise this isn't a full on review but I was torn between Gaming Discussion and User Reviews)
