This is the question that was bothering me for a while. Who do you like better, Clementine from The Walking Dead game or Nanako from Persona 4? I believe that both Clementine and Nanako are amazing and probably the best examples of how to make good and relatable child character in videogames. I love both of them, but in the end I'd have to go with Nanako. It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly why, but one of the probable reasons is that Persona 4 allows for much longer interaction with characters than The Walking Dead, and that, in turn, allows me to know them better and get me more invested in their story. Would I pick Clementine if The Walking Dead was as long as Persona 4? Maybe, as I said, there are many factors. So, I'd like to hear your opinion on that matter Escapist.
P.S. It's obvious that people who played only one of these games will pick character from that game, so I designed pool accordingly.
P.P.S. These are some early Nanako designs, lower design was rejected because it made Nanako look too independent.

It's a tough call but I have to go with Nanako on this one. Still, both characters show how child characters should be done in games.

Hard to say.
They both play very different roles in massively different settings.

Clem is of course the surrogate daughter is a constantly dangerous world, and Nanako is the little sister, one of the bonds connecting the protagonist to grounded reality when he's not TV diving.

I think I would probably call Clementine a "better" character as I was similarly invested in her in a much shorted time period. But I still have an affection for Nanako simply because she does the little sister role so well.

I think I got more worried about Nanako in that one instance when she got put into danger compared to Clem because... well, she's an essential character, and they're not going to kill her off 2 or 3 episodes in. By the point Nanako gets put into danger from a thematic position it's plausible (and highly likely) that she could be killed.

Tl;dr: Both are really good at the roles they play and they're both really well done.

Yeah! Maybe that
During TWD I never had a feeling that Clem was in real danger, I was always sure that she's gonna be ok. But when Adachi called me and said that Nanako's condition worsened I almost lost my shit

They are both excellent child characters. I think out of both of them I would have to pick Nanako though. She just seems a lot more independent than Clementine. Clementine had to depend on Lee for some things where Nanako could pretty much take care of herself when you first met her. That pry had to do with her dad being a detective and all.

They are both excellent child characters though. I would love to see No Right Answer do an episode about them.
