How do you think/hope nano bots will be used. For the uninitiated, they are microscopic machines that (in the future) will be able to enter the human body without popping blood vessels or creating annoyingly lethal airpockets. Unintentionaly, that is. If anyone has relevent data on said technology please share. Other than "x impossible because of y, moron. You post on the internet so you are expected to have taken every college course known to man and memorized Wikipedia" as this is pure conjecture.

I've heard of some pretty special things they're researching in the medical area with the kind of technology, although I imagine there's a lot of stuff going on behind closed doors which we'll never hear about.

Edit: Or I might have dreamt all of that, really cant remember.

They'd be used for as many purposes as possible, to be honest. I doubt they'd be cheap, so anyone who got them would want as many uses as they could get from them.

I can't vote in your poll, because i'd say all of them and more. How they "should" be used is one thing, but i know they "will" be used for every conceivable purpose.

Confound you, Jedoro. That was my thought. Anyway, i don't think nanomachines will be expensive. At least not in the sense of manufacturing costs. So your basic package of nanites might cost several thousand, but at least it'll be a barrell of them.

Hopefully not to resurrect the dead, thus ruining the concept of life. [small]and making the final series a bit more rubbish than it should have been[/small]

I voted for the third option, but the fourth option sounds realistic too :(

There was an article on Cracked about Nano-Technology, especially med-bots, causing a zombie apocalypse, something to do with their programming that if a human host dies, the nano-bots shut down, so in order to prevent this, the A.I. clings to a single receptor in order to control the body. Unlikely, but if it happens, my team of 4 are already prepared.

the most likely scenario is going to be commercial applications, as we are still living in a capitalist society at the moment: the companies/people who develop working nanotechnology are going to want to recoup their investment. Personally, I see a lot of medical applications for it, including clot removal, organ repair, cancer elimination, but I'm sure that there would be many industrial applications as well.

The molecular computing aspect of this technology really kinda breaks my head.

I chose 'other' in the thread. Because I reckon they're all pretty good, and tangible, uses.

I think the most prominent use of nanomachines in the future will be in the field of medicine.
