Well, I ended up getting into an argument with people on facebook about nascar. I said it was boring as hell and just a left turn, but they were saying how a driver can lose up to 10 pounds while racing, and how close the drivers get along with how fast they are going, and also how fast the pit crews have to do stuff, and that makes it not boring, or something...

So, what is your opinion on nascar?

I find it quite boring- I mean, it's just people driving around.
But the worst part are people who that it is a "sport". NO.

Crashes are what get the views. Thats why i watched it. Yet it got safer so I got bored and left it. Its not a sport in my opinion. Just a boring race, I mean shit at least be like indie racing and have different turns.

Yea, it's quite boring. It doesn't matter how fast they are, or how fast their pit crew is, or how much weight they loose while sitting and pushing down on a pedal, it's just boring to watch cars drive in a circle.

I voted "Meh". The occasional crash at least makes it a little interesting, but otherwise the suckitude flows like a river of wine.

So according to them, its only fun for the racers. Makes sense. Same reasoning I have for football and sports in general. How about play it yourself? People who watch shows about sports are the worse. Bad enough watching others playing sports you arent, but now you watch others TALK about the sports they are watching but not playing?

It just appeal to me at all I mean even soccer I can find some thing that I can find interest in but I can't watch NASCAR.

So its not boring because the Pit Crew is quick at their job? And because they get really close to one another when trying to pass one of the others?

That doesn't make up for the 2 hours of 50 cars going around an oval 200 times.

Maybe if they used actual stock cars, like the name suggests they should be, then it would be more interesting.

I've got nothing against it or people who like it, but it's not my thing. If I want to watch fast cars run around in circles, I'll set a lawn chair up next to the Beltway. The only actual exciting parts are the beginning, the end, and the problems. Nascar is mainly about stamina. You just try to get a good head-start to suck up any time you may miss from problems in the future. Most of the time, you just stay with the pack to conserve gas. (This is due to aerodynamics.) The only time anything matters is the last couple laps, where you actually want to sprint ahead to make the goal line before anyone else.

It's just like someone's description of war: "long stretches of boredom punctuated by brief moments of sheer terror."

I enjoy it.

I especially enjoy the Technical side of it and the crashes.

There is no way ill sit through an entire race but ill check in on it and watch it for a while.

I cant stand nascar. The art of turning left.

I just dont think there is any skill involved, Not compared to people racing F1 cars or other open wheeled racers.

Im a bike racing fan anyway.

I could not watch cars going around a track a hundred times. Even the crashes can't make it interesting.

By the way, haven't they heard that turning right is faster than turning left?!

Seriously though, if Nascar is a sport, than so is playing videogames, it takes the exact same skills, good reflexes and the ability to sit on your ass for hours.

I didn't know I could crash and die in real life while playing games =p

I know it's some kind of racing with cars and that's pretty much it.

I have a friend who likes nascar. When I asked him why, he said "I like it because of the explosions."
If that's why it's so popular, then I am disappointed at how many people enjoy watching others die or be wounded.
