So It seems that in America, taking a gun to people's heads is the "hip" thing this week.

[link]http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/6517725/Orlando-shooting-One-dead-as-ex-employee-opens-fire.html[/link]

And the most famous: [link]http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/11/05/texas.fort.hood.shootings/index.html[/link]

Do they give away free Glocks with Happy Meals or something?

Don't you know? Obama will take away your guns. So shoot a cop or whoever today!

Well [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate], looking at that source we see that the US is second for firearm homicides/100,000, though the NI figure is slightly (10 years) out of date compared to the US one. The US is also top for firearms deaths, but that's due to having the highest rate of suicides and 'unintentionals' via guns.

Too many guns? From my position over here in Merry Old England, I would say so. But I'll let someone else try to take them away.

Sounds like a good idea, the first part, not the whole murdering police officers thing

I completely agree!
Three news stories on the same day can't be anything but indicative of the nation as a whole! It's not like they all had their own little intricacies or anything! I'll bet that the people behind all of those got on the phone a day before, and decided to do that together! That's gotta be it.
Just wait til next week. They're probably planning explosions.
-_-

Way to look over the figures I thoughtfully provided.

Which, by the way, is indicative of the nation as a whole.

Well, in my defense, I did not notice your post.
SIGH.
I'll go read it...rassum frassum...
*kicks ground*
Mkay, I looked over it.
That's some oooold data.
But, on a serious note, I highly doubt three incidents are enough to say that the entire nation is set on shooting each other in the eye.
That was my main point.

The common Cold kills more people then firearm related deaths in the US, I like how it doesn't mention "accidental" deaths in African Nations...

Probably due to there not being any data collected on it - unless your tinfoil hat is on too tight for that possibility.

Also, would you care to back up your statement with the common cold causing more deaths? According to this [http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/mor_acu_nas_com_col_percap-nasopharyngitis-common-cold-per-capita] source, it's not even close to causing as many deaths as firearms do with 0.00676283 deaths per 1 million people.

Definitely won't be taking mine away. Still haven't managed to kill anyone with it as much as I would've wanted to. All you need is a bit of training and they aren't dangerous like you guys seem to think they are.

Many times more people die in auto accidents, I think we should make them illegal because everyone just can't be trusted with one...

You called me there... I assure there is no tin foil involved in my wild guesses (Aluminum is far more protective) but I was merely pointing out that firearm related deaths pail in comparison to other accidental deaths (Thank You for Smoking anyone???)

Let's hear it for this thing called "Gun Control"!
Most civilised country's got it to some degree, America should join in!
(I mean, come on guys, the Kings and Queens of England ain't gonna trample your lawn down if you put your guns down.. In fact, if I was a King of England, I wouldn't associate with the 'States 8D)

PS: Before you start insulting me, I know some pretty awesome Americans, though most of them are as un-patriotic and not really caring about their country as I am about mine.

But... but... ... why?! How hard can it be to implement strict gun control? It works in our country... acquiring a gun should not be this fucking easy, especially when an increasing amount of people appear to be suffering from the delusion of being a gunslinger in a wild west movie! God...

*Does not like patriotism, to me it's just as bad as Nazism was at its peak*

In Norway, the police isn't allowed to carry guns, and it's years since there was an actual armed bank-robbery here.

One could argue that it's because of the population difference (US: 300 million - Norway: 4.7 million)
xD

Why do you think they shut down other countries trying to go nuclear so fast? The biggest gun wins the gun fight, and the States will not be out done

Wouldn't being a Nazi have been a form of patriotism in their time? They were the national (and only) party, and fascism was the accepted regime.

Compared to what country? Europe or Japan for example? Yes, it has a lot. But compared to most of the rest of the world like Mexico, lots of S. America, parts of Asia, all of Africa no. It has very few in comparison to those places.
