No, I have no proof or source, I just thought about this, if some of the facts are wrong, I apologize:
Since anyone can apply to be a navy seal, and from what I've heard, there's only a physical test, lets say that I applied to be a seal. So after I'm done sealing, (they provably wont wont want an 80yo as a seal) whats to stop me, a former member of one of the worlds greatest professional killing agencies, to say, kill the president. Obviously someone already thought of this, so I'm guessing there must be a patriotism brainwashing section in the training right?

I doubt it. Well, no more brainwashing than the Marines or whatever anyways.

I don't think you'd join the Seals and do your country's dirty work if you were not already a patriot.

I suspect that may help?

I think this has happened in the past, but generally if you're in the SEALs you're patriotic already.

What do you think the Secret Service does, sit around and twiddle their thumbs?

Also being a Navy Seal doesn't instantly make you some kind of unstoppable action movie'sk badass. Special Forces commandos are really good at what they do because they work in teams practicing the same situations over and over, when you take them out of their specialties you have just an above average soldier.

Just because you have the capability to do something like that it doesn't mean you're going to want to.

Yes, they're just soldiers who have undergone intensive training. They aren't superhuman.

What stops me from killing people? What stops you from killing people? The ability to do it aside, you would have to want to kill the president enough to do it even though you know it will inevitably cost you your own life, because you're not going to get away with it.

Out of the question, if your in the military you accept you WILL be brainwashed, its what military training is. Brain washing. Pure and simple. It isnt malicious however so even thought its publicly known no one complains.

A soldier is trained to surpress any natural fear or irrational resposnes to a situation and refer instead to a list of different responses the training allows him to select from. When a normal man would shit himself and cry for his mother a soldier is expected to follow orders, stay loyal to his country and load aim fire. The mind is steeled to accept terrible, usually stunning things without question and to react rationally. Going back on my first statement its fairer to say its more mental conditioning than brain washing.

Anyway to behave in such a strange inhuman way the huan brain is usually given a focus aka "what we are fighting for". In your example this will be america and by extension the president. Anyone who has had loyalty engrained on such a level will find it hard to commit such an act.

1) Because no former soldier ever tried to kill a US President. Oh wait. Lee Harvey Oswald was a marine.
2) You're greatly underestimating the abilities of the Secret Service.
3) You're probably not going to risk your life for your country and then assassinate the leader.
4) There is probably some amount of brainwashing, but nothing that serious.

Unstoppable how? They are special forces soldiers not cyborgs. No offense, but stop watching so much TV.

And the gap between civilian understanding of the military continues to grow, with hilarious results.

Actually, the capability to do something, usually adds to the appeal of it, you probably wouldn't want to play call of duty, if you completely sucked at it. So a man with the capability to kill the president is more likely to do it than a man without that skill set.
And what if a man who is pretty patriotic but incredibly racist, was accepted into the seals, and got out just before Obama was elected. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people who would want to do that, but wont, because they don't poses the means of executing it.

I said more unstoppable than a governors body guard. Not unstoppable.

Then Bush should have been dead in a week. Alot of people wanted him dead, myself included.
Sure you wanted him dead for whatever reason.

But would you have killed him yourself?

It's all very well saying you want someone dead, but my point is very few people have the bottle to do it themselves.

SEALs are good at what they do not because each one is comparable to Batman with a machine gun, they're good at what they do because they are highly disciplined, approach the situation with a considerable amount of planning and, most of all, work together as a team, very, very well.

You can't be serious, can you? I have the capability to drive my car through a farmers market full of people but just because I can it doesn't mean I have any desire to do so.

A whole lot of this for you. With your logic, it can be applied to anyone who undergoes weapons training. If they are a wacko to begin with the impetus may be there to do something crazy...the training doesn't make you so. Stop embellishing your retarded logic with your obvious attempts at sensationalism.

Especially since the President is the Commander In Chief, above everyone in the Pentagon or outside it. I was going to write a better reply but you hit it on the head, sir, and better than I could have written it.

There's much more to becoming a SEAL than a physical test, much like become a member of the 1st SFOD-D.

And a former SEAL wanting to kill the President is just the same as any other wackjob that wants to kill the President, but just a bit better trained. And there's a whole agency out there who's job it is to protect the President, so there's that to stop one lone wacko SEAL.
