Need help with spelling and grammar first.

You can also get a wireless 360 controller for your PC, just need the adapter.

which is the better option?
360 controller

PS3 controller requires some fucking around with and installing 3rd party drivers, but does allow for Bluetooth connection. I personally use a 360 wireless controller with Microsoft's Crossfire adaptor, which can be a bit hard to find.

I can vouch that the wired 360 controller that Madcatz makes is well built and a lot less expensive than an official controller. It's also got a much better D-pad, so if you play a lot of 2d platformers or fighting games, you might want to keep that in mind. Honestly, I've never understood why Madcatz has such a bad name. Everything I've bought from them was as good or better than the official product -- it's just that sometimes, the official product wasn't very good either *cough*N64controllerbuildquality*cough*Gameboycolorlightandmagnifiers*cough*.

360 for two reasons. One factual, the other opinion.

First, 360 pads a uber-compatible with PC games. Many games have settings exclusively for 360 pads.

Second and one that's up for debate - 360 feels better than the PS3 controller.

I personally also believe that the 360 controller is better built. If you grab a PS3 controller and twist it about, it begins to squeak and feels flimsy in comparison to the rock solid 360 controller.

that's my two cents.

I prefer the 360 controller personally, althugh actually liked the original Xbox one more. Already compatible with Win7 which is a bonus.

360 hands down, most games set the buttons automatically for you, works pretty much straight away no issues at all and ive been using a wired one for 4 years.

And even if the Xbox controller doesn't work with whatever game you're playing, a program called Xpadder will work. I use it with emulation.

And yes, OP should go with an Xbox controller, or if you can, a PC specific controller although they may be expensive.

I myself use a wired Xbox controller, and it works great.

I've tried a few Madcatz controllers, N64 and Gamecube. The N64 one worked for a few months, then gave up completely. The Gamecube one stopped working after a week. Sound like either good luck for you or bad luck for me. I mostly avoid them because the price difference isn't worth the potential annoyance of returning it.

OT: I use a wired Xbox 360 controller for many of my games, partly because setup amounts to running an installation .exe and plugging it in. I mostly got the wired model because I didn't want to buy an adapter, and some slight cable management doesn't bother me much.

Plus, if I'm going to buy a wireless adapter for my PC, it probably won't be for a proprietary wireless setup that I'll only use for one controller. Especially when wireless amounts to a $50+ controller.

They basically the same layout however most Games have a Xbox controller set-up so you don't have to worry about getting confused when it says press X and you press the PS3 X and it does something different.

It may be just that they aren't good at making nintendo products. I've got a Madcatz PS1 controller from 2004 that still works like a charm, and the Xbox controller is something that I've had since Christmas, again with no sign of stopping, despite being put through a fair bit of abuse. The only Madcatz product I've had that wasn't excellence incarnate was a light and magnifier for the Gameboy Color, which didn't work, but then none of the light and magnifiers that were made for that system worked. The only hand held screen magnifiers that I've seen that were worth anything were for backlit systems -- specifically the Game Gear and the Gameboy Advance SP. On front lit systems, the things just wind up blocking out more light than they provide.

Get this (don't know how to shorten the link):
http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-P3600-Cyborg-Rumble-PP26U/dp/B000TCB3XW/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IHUH0K5S3FETJ&colid=21G1V155VOU8D

I have not used one myself but am planning on getting one. You can swap the D-pad and left analog stick to be like the PS3 or xbox360 controller, it's cheaper than both ($20 vs $40-60), and it's programmable in case you have a game that doesn't support controller inputs on it's own.

Well, I would assert the 360 controller for a different reason, though it is purely opinion.

I favor the position of the right analog stick on the 360. Its infinitely more intuitive for controls. Its not as if the dual shock configuration is bewildering, just that the 360s simply feels more natural.
