Basically, Originals can be better than remakes.
But Remakes can end up being better than originals.

The HL1 remake looks set to be better Than it's original, thus new and improved.
But I found out about this today:

In contrast, this is the "New" version.

I kinda like them both, but for different reasons.

Thoughts?

Musical cover versions are rarely in competition with the original song, so it's not a case of which one is better. "Improved" doesn't factor into it, it's just different.

With the songs you've posted, despite them being the same song, they're different music styles so the issue of which one is better or whether the new one is improved is completely subjective, depending on someone's musical taste.

Mr. Cringer-Pants is the most cutest kitty in the universe. There is no competition.

He-man wins all.

Honestly, I've caught myself singing that song randomly more than I care to admit. since I saw it last fall I've at least hummed it once a week probably.

covers aren't really ment to improve the original but ad it,s own little twist
like Land Of Confusion
Genesis 1986
Disturbed 2006
IMHO there is no good/bad version then again I,m not really qualified to judge music
