It seems very hypocritical to me and thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware of this, but yes, it does appear you're correct. God I love the double standards on this site...

Yeah, I know. The average forum poster risks loosing posting privileges, but it's our jobs that could potentially be on the line. Where's my equal treatment!
You are at risk of being fired because of forum moderation issues?

Somehow I doubt that...

Oh, oh damn. I made a monumental boo-boo here. The fact that Spinwhiz got suspended kind of made me forget that he was a mod. I figured he was just a member of the site saying something that some people could consider controversial. Yeah, if he's banning people for something he's not fully educated on/he just doesn't like for his own reasons, something needs to be done about that.
When the hell did that happen? XD
Really though, linky? :L

From the original messages on the Pedo threads, it seems he was confusing the subjects. Even now, it still seems the reasons are the same. The fuel for the rule is not what it actually is. :L
*Sigh* Just, uh... Just read my post above yours. My brain isn't working today. -_-

Yeah, I do believe that Kulani, the former head mod, overturned Legendary's ban. Now that he is gone though....
I now hide in the corner. :L

That makes fuck all sense. The staff run the site, they don't need a rule to ban you for anything. Take the bloody tinfoil hat off.

Basically, a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not a square. A child molester is a pedophile, but a pedophile is not a child molester.
That is actually incorrect. Very few of them are actually Pedophiles. :/
The Mayo Clinic disagrees.

http://www.drrichardhall.com/Articles/pedophiles.pdf
An estimated 88% of child molesters and 95% of molestations (one person, multiple acts) are committed by individuals who now or in the future will also meet criteria for pedophilia.

Pedophilic child molesters on average commit 10 times more sexual acts against children than nonpedophilic child molesters.
Nothing personal, just that the evidence states otherwise.
I disagree with the Mayo Clinic. That has been pulled on me so many times before, it is like Anti-Pedo to what a certain case is to Pro-Pedos. I'd post a link, but I can sure as fuck guarantee this would then be my last post. :L

Any other sauce on this? :L

That's exactly what he's doing. He claims that the pedophiles cause flame wars (which I have never seen), and if that's even true, he's blaming the victim.

Ok, I'm actually confused by that. Pedophilia is just the attraction to children. How are they not attracted?
Ok, this is where it can get really complicated, depending on how far into this you are actually going. I will keep it at the top though.

Pedophilia is a Primary emotional(this can include romantic, and usually does) and sexual attraction to prepubescent children. In other words, you can also be attracted to adults yet be primarily attracted to prepubescents.

Since much of the time, those who have raped another do it for the lust for the power over someone, the target in many cases can be someone(or thing, in rare cases) that the person is not truly attracted to. Take a guess which group is small and easy to overpower? >.>

Also, cases of say... a husband, not "getting any" from his wife, may choose to use another person close to them... someone possibly similar to the mother to use as a sexual outlet. I trust I do not need to go further.

The majority of child molesters are not Pedophiles, and the majority of Pedophiles are not child molesters. :L

I could go into greater detail, but I may already be breaking da rules.

>mfw I am looking at my Gamecube copy of Fairly Oddparents: Breakin Da Rules.
>mfw I have no face.
I knew that first part, but I hadn't even thought of the second part. God I'm stupid.

EDIT: And Legendary, I'm pretty sure your avatar, interests list and Youtube profile are breaking the rules now ;)
No you are not. :p

Also, FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Thanks for that. I'd suggest switching over to the I Have No Mouth AV for now and editing your interests. They likely won't care about the youtube profile. It's not like anyone's going to go hunting in your posts, or mine for that matter, to find a breakage of that rule in the past.
I will hopefully be editing it into my avatar. Or into another. I must never leave Sakura's side. :L

Ehh, my interests probably don't break the rules. :/
You mention loli in them.
Though I don't approve of it, I don't think loli is illegal or a bannable offence just for mentioning it.
Well, Spinwhiz is top mod. He can do anything he wants, and it's likely the rule was made just because he couldn't ban Legendary previously, and it was overturned the last time he got banned for it.
I somewhat doubt he made a rule just so he could ban one person. :L

If he really has any issue with me and my conduct, he should speak with me directly. :L
That is, if he has an issue. :L
It's likely all pedophiles, but I think you're what caused it, by getting unbanned.
Though, Pedo threads do cause big debates. But again, they are debates. Albeit ones taking place in a volcano. :L

Also, I should really get around to speaking to him, Mano a Mano.

Though, other cases should be easily located. :L

This has been pointed out and beaten to death, but I feel it's important to reiterate that nothing has actually changed. People like Hope Chest (now banned) and myself have been well aware of the "strikes" system used by the Escapist moderators since LONG before this rule change. You all think it's new because you never knew it was there, BUT IT WAS.

The only change being made is that now ordinary people can see it, which is how it always should have been. The idea of an invisible scoreboard I can't see which counts every perceived infraction and which I can never erase by my good deeds is absurd. A visible one is slightly less so. At least this way it's more honest.

Actually, it has little to do with the current subject. XD

Though, it is still the Pro to what that is to Anti.

Hell no. XD

I typed in a wide variety of things. Most of which I cannot post here. XD

I to be honest hate the new system and think they should turn it back.

I mean perm suspension, wtf?

oh well, maybe they will turn it off soon :/
most likely not. A better idea might be to help us effect change by joining our group. if we get enough people, they will not be able to ignore us any longer. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapists-against-the-machine

Well, if you want someplace quick(and this being a place that I also disagree with on several issues, including motivations), try Newgon. Google shall take you there. :p

Eh, here is to hoping I don't get banned for that. (=_=)

I couldn't if I wanted to post my disagreement, which I found kind of gross. >_>

But you can be damn sure I kept that window open for a long while before typing those two words that most certainty were untrue coming from me. One sin in order to allow for promoting the greater good, I suppose.

It's always these posts that seem to never get the attention they deserve, but you're absolutely right.

Between people seemingly forgetting about it, to those who joined too late to see the last discussion between users and mods where it was brought up, people around here never want to recognise this point.
For a considerably long time, it's been Warnings, then Probation(s), then Suspension(s), then finally the banhammer comes swinging. And if it wasn't called for, then it's not unheard of to see people appeal, and come back from a supposed "perma-ban".

This is just as true now, the only difference being that now we have a visible Forum Health Meter.

That's the one problem I have with the updated rules. That the "health meter" is visible. To everyone. I just feel it should be kept private. That way, the only ones who can see it are you and the staff members(including moderators). I mean, you don't see people in school districts or those who work in law enforcement openly talking about the contents of one's permanent record. They'd get penalized for that, even culminating in the loss of their job. It just doesn't seem right.

Also, the little part underneath the meter that calls me a citizen..I find it hilarious. Makes me think of 1984.
