Would you rather games that are new IPs that try fresh and Interesting things, but have a few problems, e.g. Mirrors Edge, or a sequel that is extremely polished but doesn't really do anything new, e.g. Halo 3?

It depends on what the sequel is going to be for. If it's going to be another generic FPS, then a new IP all the way. If it's a sequel to a game like inFamous, I'd probably prefer the sequel.

I prefer sequals when they do it right. Despite what people say, same is good. Alot of games I desire sequals for, even if it is not gonna happen or no sign of it. TESV is the one I want most now. But Brute Force, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Chromehounds, Mercenaries are just a couple of games Id love a sequal for.

Yeah, That that makes sense. I would definitely buy, say, Mirrors Edge 2 over Call of Halo Clone 537. Even if CoH C537 was a new IP.

There was a Sequel for Mercenaries, World in Flames. Yahtzee even reviewed it 2 years ago.

I voted new IP, but it didn't show up. Oh well. New IPs are what pushes the industry. Even if they are terrible, they do something. Developers can say, "Well that science experiment failed," and move on.

if its a good game its a good game, but more then likely im going to like the sequel if i liked the first, MOST LIKELY i said, so usually i'd prefer a sequel, but if a new ip is done right then yes, but i didn't like mirrors edge, idk i figured id like the parkour but i just did not like the way it was handled at all, so just depends

Sorry, I just was writing fast. I want a Mercs 3. Was Mercenaries 2 that really got me into the series actually, then went back and played the first. Alot of the first added to the improvements of the second would be great. I loved the PDA from the first.

Hmmm some of my favorite games are sequels. Jagged Alliance 2, System Shock 2, No One Lives Forever 2, Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Interstate 82... Wait... New IP, new IP.

It doesn't really matter to me, as long as the game itself is good. Some games need to have a sequel done, though, while others should be laid to rest.

It all depends, some times a new IP is good, like Okami was and Heavy Rain is

but you cant beat sequals like ME2 and Dead Raising 2.
